Decided to try The Fountain on the way home from somewhere. Went years ago but it was dull and dated. Have heard it is in new hands (for a while now) so gave it a go. We were pleasantly surprised. The whole place has been modernised. The menu was good with all the usual pub options. When it arrived the... More

Hello Nic, thank you for taking the time to review your visit to the Fountain Inn. We're delighted you enjoyed your visit and appreciate the lovely comments about the food and decor. The pub isn't in new hands - we've been here almost 27 years now.......... where did all those years go! :) Many thanks, Michelle and Alan. More

Lunchtime visit - interesting old building with lots of old photos and artefacts on display. Looks to have been recently refurbished - very clean and tidy throughout. We chose a lasagne and a beef curry - both were excellent (as was the real ale), and service was prompt and friendly. Will definitely be returning - highly recommended.

I visited with friends this week for a Christmas lunch. Food was superb, service was very attentive but not intrusive and ambience was spot on. It was a busy lunchtime and the waitress who looked to be in charge (Rachel I think her name was) was a credit to the Fountain Inn. She was organised, competent and nothing was too... More

We visited yesterday, a family of 11 including 7 children, all very excited from seeing Santa on the railway. They were a little hyper and rowdy but we were made to feel very welcome and the food was fantastic. We had a carvery meal and the puddings were very tasty. Definitely worth a re-visit.

We dropped in for lunch one Friday in October. The pub was quiet. The landlord was friendly and helpful. The food was tasty and good value. There was plenty of choice.

Nice place for lunch while enjoying a trip on the Dean Valley Railway (which is almost just across the road from The Fountain). Helpful, pleasant staff. Very accommodating for dogs and walkers too (removable muddy boot covers just outside the entrance - nice touch!). Normal pub grub type of food but tasty and nicely presented. Good beers too. Enjoyed the... More

'Normal pub grub' isn't really what we're about, and we're guessing you came at lunchtime, when we run a smaller menu of (predominantly) traditional favourites. In the evenings we offer... More

A nice little pub near the Dean Forest Railway's Parkend terminus. Nice historic 'souvenirs' of local interest inside the bar - the real thing. Basic pub food, but of good quality. Definitely recommended if you are in Parkend.

We were a party of nine who turned up unannounced and were accommodated on a Monday lunchtime. Great little pub, friendly staff and good selection of meals at reasonable prices. I had the tuna mayonnaise jacket potatoe and was happy. Burgers seemed to go down really well too

Description
Welcome to our award winning, family run, village inn. We offer a wide choice of good quality, home-cooked, meals - ranging from steaks to curries and hot-pots. On Sundays, we also run a popular carvery from noon until 3pm. Almost all of our meat comes from butchers within 4 miles of Parkend and we support many other producers in the Forest of Dean. At the bar you'll even find local real ales on tap, as well as a wide selection of other beers and wines. We welcome families, mountain bikers and walkers.
