The place to go for a once in a lifetime meal, the service is in the top range and you get to sample a few little tasters before the main meal, the menu is more than impressive.

To get the good stuff out the way – the setting is amazing. After being seated, we were give a small partridge terrine, which was pleasant. On to the food, my starter of ham hock terrine was nice, but the brioche appeared to have been toasted some time before being served and lost its crunch and just became something akin to... More

Step back in time and visit one of King Henry VIII homes. It really is a castle and you feel like royalty when you go there. The afternoon teas are lovely and in a magnificent setting. This place has to be seen to be appreciated

My husband and I were given an overnight stay as a gift by a very generous friend, this included a two course dinner with a glass of Prosecco and breakfast. The receptionist when we arrived was extremely friendly and polite, I was a bit surprised to have to go back out into the rain for the room but soon realised... More

We visited for my birthday as we had been bought a (rather expensive) voucher by my sister for afternoon tea (£23.50 per head). We were blown away when we arrived, such a stunning place. That's where the positives stop.. The manager at the podium was rude to us from the offset. I explained that I had booked and gave my... More

We thought we would treat ourselves to a drink and a fine sandwich. It is such a superb place. Good start with proper linen napkins. Sue had a very fine Ham sandwich but my egg and cress was more Asda than M&S and for £6.50 not impressive. I mentioned it to our charming waiter and within a few minutes another... More

12 of us ate on Sunday the 11th December and enjoyed the atmosphere. If you are looking for a celebration venue or you want to impress, the place is rich in history and has bags of character. We had been before, but our teenage kids hadn't, they enjoyed the small dining rooms which were cosy and less daunting than a... More

Wow! What a place and I've stayed at many posh hotels. This is by far the best room (Howard) I have ever stayed in. I really did feel like a queen for the night, the four poster bed, the furniture, the roll top bath, two chairs by the fire. Luxury at its highest. I love history so this was absolutely... More

Thornbury castle is an imposing Hotel and Restaurant, which I have visited before, but at Christmas time even the long winding drive in, is magical with lighted Christmas trees and tasteful decorations. It is like entering a medieval venue where you are greeted by a suit of armour at the entrance (very realistic looks like a soldier). walk in and... More

As we live in Thornbury we decided to have lunch as a belated birthday celebration. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel very welcome and waited in. The lounge which looked spectacular and decorated for Christmas. The December lunch menu had an assortment of seasonal dishes and the wine list was extensive. The dining room was equally... More
