We went here to celebrate our third wedding anniversary in Feb 2016. We had heard good things about it. As soon as we arrived, the waitress said, "You've ordered the mussels, haven't you? You got the last ones." We had not. She said, "It's ok. You can change your mind - there's no need to be embarrassed." We hadn't ordered... More

Me and two of my best mates decided rather than go out on the town we would head out for a few drinks and some nice food. A lot of recommendations had come our way for 'The Phoenix on The Green' (No green to be seen within a country mile for starters) this is where I first realised we were..... More

Really hearty lunch. The sandwiches are a meal I themselves. The fish finger sandwich is actually massive pieces of battered haddock. Lovely homemade tartare sauce too. Friendly service and lovely atmosphere.

My Wife and I went out for a meal with another couple, their two children and another friend and her little girl. We booked in advance as it is sometimes hard to get a reservation, they prepared a table for all of us, the welcome was very friendly and overall the food was very good. My Wife and I had... More

We were very. Excited in the anticipation of eating here they will always be the unhappy customers that's the nature of things but it's the regularity which raises concerns The pub has a good atmosphere and looks amazing , the food was good we had a Sunday roast good value tasty meal reasonably priced with a great selection of wines... Andrew and Sisi have transformed the Phoenix Inn into a warm and welcoming pub with great beer and excellent food, unrivalled in the area. Book early and try the "devilled kidneys"!

Ive never not had amazing food here, went today for a roast and from when we sat down at 3pm our food didn't arrive at the table until 4.20! the staff did explain that there was a slight delay for roasts. 25mins... but it actually ended up about 50! and after they took out orders she never came back to... This was on my short list for a great sunday lunch. However I thought I would try it out first on a saturday. Must have been a bad hair day. The starter I wanted and the main I wanted were both off. In fact even some of the beer was off. Not a great day. so went with the default... More

Just literally returned from my birthday lunch. What a beautifully run establishment. It was my birthday and I had my three children, grandson and husband with me. We had a variety of different dishes ranging from fresh oysters to roast dinners. All were superb quality. The service is brill and the added touch of the chef coming out is great.... More

Description
The Phoenix is a historic and magnificent building in a prime location, with a large car park and a beautiful, peaceful garden. The food is simple, fresh, as much as possible local. Andrew Ryder, chef proprietor is passionate about provenance and seasonality. The menu changes frequently, to allow for seasonal favourites. The service is friendly and informal, staff are very helpful and knowledgeable. There is always a good selection of real ales and the extensive wine list suits all tastes and pockets.
