No "steak night" this time but the standard menu. Was pretty good, though not that many interesting options and a few had sold out already. However, at least we were warned when we were handed the menus. Ended up with gammon egg and chips :-(...More

Visited on a Sunday, 3 people. At first restricted with times sittings at 12, 3 and 6 although we were then offered a sitting at 12.30. Having now dined here on a Sunday, I can understand why as the food makes the Phoenix well worth...More

A bit overpriced for the food they serve. The staff were very pleasant but I was given a bill for £101 instead of £13!! Very careless. Also the waitress kept putting her hand through the open woodwork to put things on our table. Couldn’t be...More

The Sunday roasts here are absolutely amazing. regularly visit the Phoenix on a Sunday and they never disappoint. the last time we went (last Sunday) was the best it had ever been! with the exception of the Host, the staff could be a bit friendly.

This is a lovely pub, which although modernised in sections, retains its older traditional parts, with ancient wood beams running across the ceiling (watch your head!). Friendly greeting on arrival and quickly seen to our (reserved) table. We both opted for the roast chicken, which...More

Description
The Phoenix is a historic and magnificent building in a prime location, with a large car park and a beautiful, peaceful garden. The food is simple, fresh, as much as possible local. Andrew Ryder, chef proprietor is passionate about provenance and seasonality. The menu changes frequently, to allow for seasonal favourites. The service is friendly and informal, staff are very helpful and knowledgeable. There is always a good selection of real ales and the extensive wine list suits all tastes and pockets.
