We visited with a table of 6 on a Friday evening. It was busy and friendly and the food was good. Most of us had the same starter, a cold, small piece of trout with decoration, that cost almost £7, which was far too pricey for the quality and effort which went into its production. Our main courses were better,... More

We started the Mortimer trail at Kington and on day 2 we followed the River Lugg to Aymestrey. We came upon the Riverside inn. What a gorgeous setting right next to the river. We arrived fully laden with rucksacks etc over the Easter weekend and there was no problem with allowing us in with our gear. we ordered food and... More

Trying to book a table for 16 people on Easter Sunday is a task in itself. The staff at Riverside inn couldn't have been accommodating. On arrival we were greeted and shown to our table and a drinks order was taken immediately. We then had time to browse the set menu and chat between ourselves, before our order was taken.... More

have been here on many occasions over the last 15 years . Always good food, friendly and efficient staff, relaxed ambience and super setting. We hit a beautiful warm sunny day - April 8 !!!- and had drinks by the river before going inside to our reserved table. The interior has been smartened up by the new owners and is... More

Same walk from Croft Castle through the woods and bluebells to the Riverside for lunch. It remains one of our favourite watering holes being an old timber framed pub with superb food and good beer. We started with trout with beetroot, pear and Crème Fraîche which was a knockout! Fresh, zingy and superbly composed. Then onto our favourite main, the... More

Birthday treat courtesy of the wife and excellent it was. The setting, ambiance, food were all top notch. The dog was made as welcome as us, even got her own sausage for breakfast. A really lovely two night stay enhanced by amazing weather for the end of March/early April. Obvious signs that upgrading is a work in progress but what... More

Really can't fault this pub - visited on a beautiful spring day and enjoyed sitting in the terraced garden, there were also tables by the River Lugg. Our family party of six, with four children, sat inside to eat; the food was delicious and the atmosphere very welcoming. The menu was unusual and included sea robin (gurnard - I had... More

Stayed in the stable suite for 1 night when our dog had to visit the Eye Clinic for an operation to restore his sight. We arrived at the Riverside early and they could not have been more accommodating. Considering they are closed on a Monday afternoon, they let us into the room early. When we came back to the Inn... Friendly and welcoming staff on arrival, all taking the effort and time to greet customers and make them feel valued. Easy to reach location, plenty of parking and very stylish yet cosy interior decor. Order was taken quickly and efficiently. We chose to eat by the riverside, which on a beautiful Spring day was perfect. The waiting staff were attentive... More

We had a really enjoyable evening dinner here. The staff were really lovely and helpful. The menu was quite varied and offered interesting flavour combinations. The food was super rich, as you might expect, so could only manage two courses. But loved how much local produce they use. Interesting mix of a country pub feel and fine dining.

Aymestreys The Riverside Inn and Restaurant is nestled in the Herefordshire countryside, where the Roman Watling Street crosses the meandering River Lugg. Amongst trees where butterflies flutter and dragonflies buzz, The Riverside Inn is an old black and white timbered building full of original features - oak beams, log fires, exposed stone - dating back more than three hundred years. Warm and full of character, this is a typically British inn with an excellent line in local ales, countryside perries and ciders as well as a number of European and New World wines selected as accompaniments to the fine dining food produced by the kitchens award winning chefs. Committed to supporting local producers and suppliers from the rich larder of the surrounding counties, The Riverside Restaurant is proud to be local - even hyper-local in some cases with herbs and vegetables often taken from the inns very own garden - and as such dishes are created to showcase the best seasonal ingredients. Every item is freshly cooked just meters from your table and every taste and requirement is catered for with excellent vegetarian options as well as good choices for coeliacs and non-dairy eaters.
