Decided on the spur of the moment to call into The Salutation for a cream tea. The café was not easy to find as there was a lack of signage. Eventually we saw an open door and could smell the coffee aroma. This was it, we had found it! We were warmly greeted by the staff on duty. Our order... More

Visited sandwich for the 40s weekend. Had a cream tea for 2 £11, we had two scones of different sizes a very small amount of jam & cream not enough for two. Like warm tea one napkin & a single plate. Best to walk into sandwich "5 min walk" Lots a good value tea rooms

A really super place, we stopped for drinks but ended up staying for lunch. Quite possibly the lightest most delicious scones we've ever had, just divine selection of cakes. Can't rate highly enough for truly home-made of the highest standard, with great, attentive service.

After a nice walk around the garden what could be more pleasant that a cup of tea and a piece of cake? Well, if that's what you want go somewhere else! The food was over priced and average. The tea room itself is small and dingy and the toilet is disgusting - dirty, stained bowl and broken seat. Go somewhere... More

This was a quick stop for a cuppa and a slice of cake as it appears no hot food available for lunch today. Bit of a shame but nonetheless a nice place to shelter from the showers and the young man serving very friendly. Bit of a drain smell inside the cafe which really ought to be sorted out.

The Salutation is a beautiful building, but the Tea Room was a huge disappointment. It has such potential but all wasted. The staff barely spoke, certainly no word of welcome. Poorly stocked with an unimaginative range of cakes that were dry,and tasteless. Finally ...the toilet! My advise ...don't go there. It was grubby, scruffy, neglected and certainly not what you... Quite standard tea and cakes on offer. Really surprised to hear people being turned away at 345pm as the tea room was about to close. At tea time??! Why? The tea room itself was pretty, but the toilet there was really grubby - dirty broken toilet seat, broken towel holder, just pretty bad especially as at an eating establishment.

We first went to this tea room 7 years ago, and we still remember it as the place that refused to serve us scones. On this occasion all 4 of us had ordered scones and jam but were told they had sold out of scones. However, some 10 minutes later the visitors on the next table were served a cream... More
