We have eaten in the restaurant before and like the set-up. There are no menus; either printed or on boards. The waiting staff (always very personable) will list six dishes and you choose three. Typically one chicken; one steak; one lamb; one king prawns; one fish; plus another. The dishes then arrive at the table and you serve yourselves. Likewise... More

Great for a beer or a family meet, noisy , crowded but fun--what a pub should be! Do not expect food or fine dining just a good pub.

Very large pub in the centre of town and a junction. High ceilings and many old typewriters around. seemed to be popular for quick meals but lacked atmosphere.

It was the sound of the brass section that lured me into this well-known Whitstable boozer. The band Flaky Jake were in full flow belting out everything from Ska to movie theme tunes to a handful of Sunday afternoon drinkers. Shame because the four-piece deserved to be playing to a much larger audience. The pub itself is right in the... More

We visited here twice whilst spending three days in Whitstable. The first time was purely for a drink and the second time was for food as well. This place has a funky feel to it, with quirky decor and an unusual lay out. It is also dog friendly, which was great as we had ours with us. The Ale was... More

The owner needs to take a class on interpersonal skills. A very rude person. Establishment needs a clean, I'd hate to see the kitchen. Never again will we go back to The Duke of Cumberland.

In this rather scruffy hotel interior you may enjoy a sort of Bohemian experience along with some very good food and Shepherd and Neame beer par excellance. Limited menu, sort of bistro style, but good value for money.

Dog friendly pub with a large range of friendly local characters, local ales and real good live music too.
