Just popped in for lunch when coming down from the Lake District. If you've got time to drive through the magnificent local scenery of the Forest of Bowland and the Trough of Bowland then take a detour off the M6. Beware though, the Inn at Whitewell stops taking lunch orders at 2pm - we just squeaked in. The atmosphere is... More

Always consistent and fabulous food. Two negatives though ... the dining room doesn't take bookings after 12.30pm and you and the bar area doesn't take bookings at all . If you want to eat at 1pm to 1.30pm you have to take potluck . It is a long way to go if no tables are available . Think this point... More

Thank you for your review, glad you had another good meal. Last orders at 2pm for bar lunch and with only a limited number of tables we only reserve until 12;30 this is because the majority of people drop in ad hoc, if tables are held and they can't sit down it's more frustrating. The intention is to keep the... More

Not a lot to say, the moment you arrive here, you feel drawn to stay for a meal. A beautiful inn set an amazing landscape. Watch the first episode of the Trip with Steve Coogan - you get a good feel for the place. - dog friendly - wide selection of drinks - very well executed meals - super waiting... More

We've passed here a while ago but couldn't get in due to a wedding, we eventually got in two weeks ago on a wonderful sunny spring Saturday. The hotel and location are idyllic, it was very busy a good sign. We ordered the fish pie and I had the sausages with white onion sauce and champ potatoes, both dishes were... More

Please add this amazing dish back to the menu! Perfect meal. Beautiful setting, staff wonderful ... would eat here every night if I could. Miss the cheese pie that was removed from the menu last year ... very sad as it is exceptional.

Thank you for this, I know there a few calls to bring back the cheese pie but some things have to change, we have to evolve a little each year, maybe we should revert and try some new dishes else where. Regards Cb More

We ate in the restaurant, rather than the bar. You need to reserve. The food was excellent but, given the prices, main courses should include vegetables.

Many thanks. Not sure about the veg question so much used to be returned and were wasted. I will ponder. Regards Cb More

Daughters birthday we drove 130 miles from the Lake District for Lunch.Nice menu plus specials we all enjoyed all we ordered.Little Surprised they did not have a dry rose wine by the glass the one they gave us was very sweet therefore we switched to Merlot.Excellent service and a Can do staff attitude.

Thank you for your review and indeed the marathon round trip. Not sure quite which rose we had on when you came as we change around but the current two are Montaud a Frenchy that is dry and A Spanish Castillo which is moire fruity, i think you might have had this one. Thanks again for your thoughts. Regards Cb More

Just been here for Sunday lunch with 5 other 'foodies'. It was my first time and I was expecting well above average food given the reputation of the place. Sadly this was lacking - I would say the food was no better than average for the price. However, the building has a light airy feel, the staff are polite and... More

Many thanks for your feedback and sorry you were under whelmed by our bar food, it should be pretty good. I understand your point about bar drinks but we are an old inn not a restaurant and it sort of changes the nature of what we are if you have dining room service in the bars, we obviously do table...
