Group of four visiting Knaresborough - needed a break after walking up from riverside. Excellent tea shop - old chemist. Don't let the appearance put you off - good shop downstairs with tea room upstairs. I had bakewell tart ... absolutely magnificent.

We visited for afternoon tea for my birthday. The food was lovely. The portions huge (Yorkshire) sized, we had to take a doggy bag. Would definitely visit again.

It is usually my habit to only write reviews of my positive experiences on tripadvisor but on this occasion I feel compelled to break my rule. I visited the Lavender Rooms today with my family for a lunchtime meal and initially all was well. We...More

Called in this late November day for lunch. Had enjoyed a good walk around riverside area and then back in to town. Some of eateries were not serving food and we fancied something warming and nice yo eat. The outside consists of a several hundred...More

Charming cafe with traditional ambience. Lovely service. Tea for Two looked great value, however serving 'speciality' teas via a tea bag doesn't quite do it. The cappuccino sadly arrived very tepid and the gluten free ground rice cake with honey & lemon could have a...More

Service was really good. Cosy little cafe upstairs. I ordered the afternoon tea for two. The sandwiches provided were nice, you do get a good amount of filling in each sandwich. However, the cakes weren't great. The selection was good, but the quality unfortunately was...More

Always have a problem with TripAdvisor. This place is good. Not very good. Not average. But have gone with average. We cleared the table as they were understaffed. No problem, just saying. The soup came x 3 and was fine. My Brie and Bacon melt...More

We go here for lunch every time we visit Knaresborough. It's a really old building in the centre of town. It looks a bit 'touristy and twee' from the outside, but don't be deceived. All their food is homemade and is good value. I had...More

I stupidly thought that the whole place had undergone a refurbishment, it hasn't only the outside painted. We went in on a wet Sunday too late to find anywhere else and realised on the stairs that the tearoom had not been decorated since our last...More
