We visited mainsgill for the first time today. Loved the shop and Christmas shop etc but the tea room was like a greasy spoon cafe. The food wasn't at the quality as the shop at all. We had soup and it came in a bowl that looked like it was from an old people home it should all be white... More

We visited Mainsgill on the A66 a short distance from Scotch Corner. It was the first time we had been there since a massive refurbishment and array of improvements and want a marvelous surprise it was, The shop is probably double the size or more than it was the last time we were there. A huge increase to the range... More

Visited Mainsgill on a Saturday morning so the cafe was quite busy but we were served quickly and the food was good however I thought it was expensive and wouldn't rush back to eat. Just over £18 for two breakfasts and drinks! Any 'extras' were 95p each which I thought for the spoonful of beans you got was quite harsh!... More

First visit was an unplanned pit stop on A66 for late breakfast. Initially our hearts sank a bit at how full car park was as although it's a good sign that a place is popular it can also mean no free tables or queues. Do not dismay! It is HUGE inside with plenty tables in bright, spacious farmhouse restaurant. We... More

We have stopped here before and again stopped twice there on our way to the Lake District we stopped for breakfast and on the way home afternoon teas and provisions. The staff in the cafe are very efficient and the full cooked breakfast is excellent and very good value for money. On our second visit we toured the upstairs shopping... More

We have driven past here on the A66 several times and said we should stop one time. This trip we stopped for lunch. It was very busy but we were soon served. The food was excellent. Tasty well cooked local produce at a very reasonable price. Staff very friendly. Also has a large food shop and farm animals near by.

My wife and I where first time visitors to Mainsgill. We planned to spend time there over the lunch time period so that we could include a bite to eat as well as some Christmas Shopping. Our first problem arose we attempted to slow down at Mainsgill's entrance on the extremely busy west bound A66 in horrendous weather and we... More

Had no plans to stop here, however needed a toilet break. Was expecting a small cafe, but was surprised to find a cafe, large farm shop and other crafts. The farm shop was well laid out with a very large selection of local produce. We didn't use the cafe, which looked very popular, but did drive away with a selection... More
