We went for lunch there last Saturday for the first time since the new owners have been there. I was immediately struck by the beautiful furniture and roaring fire, it felt so cosy you automatically felt relaxed. The staff were lovely, our daughter was crawling around the floor (we had the place to ourselves so we let her roam freely)... More

Well bloody hell, it was delicious. The pub itself has that kind of atmosphere that makes you feel like you're at home, the staff are so welcoming and friendly. Definitely worth getting up on a Saturday for! The shoot breakfast is massively brilliant, emphasis on the massive! The farmers buttie was great too. To be fair, we always have a... More

Thank you for that Melissa and your repeat custom with your friends is much appreciated. It is a good time of year to be trying new things and the team were keen to give Breakfasts the Mad Jacks touch. We are glad your Breakfasts hit the Spot and we are especially glad to note that all elements of our menu... More

I have come to the conclusion that dog friendly pubs and eatery's are the best! Saw the reviews on TripAdvisor and had our last night meal here, fabulous! All the staff are so dog and human friendly, and the food ... all had different meals which arrived together, lamb roast, burger stack, growling bear pie and lamb with alternatives, every... More

Though its a shame you don't live closer, we do like to think of Mad Jacks as Everybody's Local wherever you live. You had a good cross section of our Signature Pub Classics (including Gravy Bones for the dog) . Thank you for taking the time to let us and readers know the experience to which they can look forward.... More

Off the beaten track this is well worth discovering. An excellent chef produces a wide ranging menu of good locally sourced food. Effort has been put into ensuring this is much better than pub grub. In a lovely setting for walks and exploring the countryside around Whittington I would thoroughly recommend a visit.

Myself and 3 of my friends stopped by whilst cruising along the canal. We received a lovely warm welcome. The beer is well kept. The food was delicious and plentiful, excellent value for money. The owner stopped for an informative chat, as did the landlady a little later, both checking that the boisterous shoot gathering were not too noisy, they... More

Thank you so much for those kind words. We both enjoyed looking after your table that night - funnily enough we were customers rather than working that evening so we enjoyed it from both sides of the Bar ! Much of the stunning refurbishment is down to our Landlady Joanne who has an uncanny eye for the tiniest of details... More

Delicious food, two of us had the beef rib Oriental style scrumptious, two had rare roast beef melt in mouth with great veggies perfectly cooked! Good beer and exceedingly friendly and professional staff.

I highly recommend this restaurant. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was relaxed. The steak I ordered was cooked just as I asked, and the peppercorn sauce was lovely. Looking forward to returning for another meal!

Our Pub celebrates fresh food cooking of favourite dishes to original recipes. We do not reheat or microwave food that goes back to the kitchen. When food is cooked fresh on a busy night, yes mistakes can sometimes happen and we always hold our hand up if it does and make it right. Your main course was re cooked from... More

7 elderly gentlemen left their narrow boat moored nearby and arrived around 1930 - having changed booking from 2000. Shown to a table and then ignored for 10 minutes. Found our own menus and got our own drinks from the bar. The appearance and ambiance of the restaurant was good and the place was relatively busy - with an obvious... More
