We always love to call into the King Alfred in Burrowbridge while we are in the area. The food is first class and prices are very good value. Loved the log fire - it makes it very cosy and welcoming!! Staff are very friendly and helpful too!! Can't wait to sample another one of your specials. Thank you!!

Had dinner at the King Alfred in Burrow Bridge while visiting friends. The food was divine, staff friendly, prices very good, we definitely recommend this pub restaurant, we can't wait to sample more delicious food on our next visit.

This Inn is in a beautiful location on the 'levels' and would highly recommend giving it a try if you are in the area. Staff are really friendly and helpful, food choice is fantastic, catering for all taste and styles, so much so it can be hard to choose, the portions are plentiful, and puddings are a must ! Loved the... More

This pub is now my favourite place to pop in for lunch on the way past as it is a consistently great experience. From the friendly bar staff to efficient and really warm waitressing staff and that's before you've sampled some of the delicious food, the King Alfred is seriously such a pleasurable and atmospheric pub with its log burner,... We decided to go out for the evening last Thursday, and chose the King Alfred, not realising that it was their 'steak night'. It couldn't have worked out better. Their beef comes from the always excellent Pynes of Bridgwater, and was outstanding. Claire had a burger with all the trimmings for £6.50; I had an 8 oz rump, perfectly cooked,... More

Popped in at lunchtime and we both had a bacon & brie ciabatta which came with garnish and homemade coleslaw . Triple cooked chips as well. We could not fault it. Staff friendly, fires and loved the style of the ladies with sensible doors that opened outwards so no need to manoeuvre around the door. Picked up a Sunday menu... More

This is the second meal that my neighbour and I had to send back. The eggs were raw. The pub was cold - no welcoming fire as the handle had broken. Very disappointing. Let's hope the local farmer at the bar was joking when he said the food would be returned with extra protein. Would be careful about eating here... More

Arrived to see a convivial environment with the local community engaging at the bar. Disappointed to experience that the management did not see that this was not a bonus to their string. The food was ok but not to restaurant standards. This place obviously has pretensions of gourmetdom, but is all in all slightly mediocre. My chips (triple cooked apparently)... More

Was taken here by a friend for a Sunday lunch . Well what a lovely place , small but not too small . Great food and good portions too . Pleasant staff who all seemed to be smiling even when they weren't speaking or serving to other customers. I would definitely come again and hopefully sooner rather than later .... More

I like pubs that haven't been "got at" by some make-over/marketing drones - comfortable, cozy, warm, friendly, lots of patina. The KA is one of those - and there are not that many in Somerset. They have 4 real ales and various ciders and some reasonable wines. The food is very good with several specials nights (steak night, fish and... More
