We called in whilst on holiday, we had to sit in the garden as it was full inside .We ordered a fish pie and half of chicken .Both soon arrived , my chicken meal was ok but the fish pie was mostly mash on the...top but not enough fish .More
We stayed yesterday at this Gem of a pub and Hotel. Fantastic food and drinks, we booked 2 twin rooms and extremely happy with an excellent breakfast included.
Steak Dinner was off the charts and wife and kids extremely happy with their fish pie.
Location...really nice and private with a close location to Watchet, Minehead and Dunster Castle.
5/5 from us. Thank you Mike and TeamMore
We recently visited the valiant soldier to celebrate my birthday and this place was faultless.
We were able to sit outside and our children thoroughly enjoyed the play area.
The food was amazing and the staff were extremely helpful.
We’ll be back and I would...highly recommend the valiant soldierMore
Visited today with family and dogs, made to feel very welcome, completely Covid aware and safe as can be.
Very welcoming staff, food was excellent and good value for money, great garden and beautiful sunshine.
Be back soon.
Staying in Watchet overnight, and needing a meal, we decided to run down to the Valiant Soldier because the website looked attractive and the menu was well chosen (and reasonably priced). Really pleased to find that the landlord was friendly and helpful, the pub was...spacious but didn't feel like a barn, the food was pretty good (the "freshly battered" cod really is), the portions were gigantic, the Merlot was above
average, and the young gingery-haired waitress was indefatigably efficient.
Like others who have left a review, we looked wistfully at the desserts but had to admit there was no way we could manage one after the main course they'd fed us. We'll just have to come back.More
Thank you To all at the Valient Soldier for our excellent meal in our October holiday. Under Covid conditions we felt totally safe, enter through front door and sign in or check into NHS app. Take your seat and the owner then takes your drinks...order, 2 pints of Exmoor ale were our choice. The menu was logical for these times, my wife had a sizzler steak and I had the pork loin with a cider gravy. The vegetables served with the dishes were carrots and leeks both seasoned perfectly and it was great to be able to taste real carrot and leeks not frozen veg.
The pub was warm and inviting, it was quieter than I expected and I can only say to any on holiday in the area, book a table a make a visit for a Exmoor treasureMore
The food was great, had a rack of ribs with chips was absolutely amazing!! Was served by a beautiful well mannered waitress, (niamh) i think her name was, brilliant service answered my questions, very happy!!!
The man behind the bar was friendly and the layout was very comfortable with plenty of room. Food was very good quality and portion size good. L had prawn baguette and it came with a generous side salad and chips. The omelette my husband had...was light and tasteful again with generous portion of side salad and chips. Other meals of chicken madras and burger and child's meal equally good. Would definitely recommend.More
I'm so glad we came to visit the valient soldier.
After seeing pictures online of this lovely village pub. We decided we would book a table and come for dinner.
The gentleman behind the bar was very friendly.
Asked if we was local or not....I am local. My parents were visiting.
Food portions were great.
Not so much choice on the menu. But there is something for everyone.
I had the homemade chicken madras. Which was delicious.
We was very full so we skipped pudding.
I will definatly be heading here again in the future.More
