We eat at Sammy Barlow's a couple of times a month and always look forward to each visit. Service can seem a little slow at times but that's because food is freshly prepared, and is always worth the wait. Our grandson has special needs, he is always well catered for and never disappointed. There are also huge carp in the... More

We are a small group of people known as the Friends of Alvecote, we meet on a monthly basis as we are currently working on raising money for the play area refurbishment. We eat and discuss our next moves. I have never been disappointed with any of the food I have had, and last night was no exception, Stilton &... More

we walked from the gate pub (dog friendly in the bar) to there with the dog, along the canal (about 35 minutes). It is dog friendly, the staff were lovely and the food portions were massive and really nice (glad we shared). There was lots of other dogs and a good, friendly atmosphere. We'd definitely recommend it to anyone who... More

Six people attended the pub, each one of us all said the food was excellent, fresh vegetables, meat locally source. Pub setting, around a marine and canal. Boats a plenty to look at, fish numerous, small big. Bar staff ,waiters, chef, manager (chef),on number of times we have been there, are friendly and talkative. GREAT place to eat.

The best thing I like coming here is they rotate the menu so from a veggie perspective there's always something different Today I had Mediterranean Canneloni which was lovely but for my own palette lacked a little seasoning but I did discuss thus with the Chef who is very amenable to suggestions The rest of the gang had a mixture... We have just had the pleasure of spending a weekend at The Historic Boat Gathering at Samuel Barlow's and we really cannot fault them on anything. We ate a total of 8 times during the Bank Holiday weekend. A fantastic breakfast was laid on for just £5 with bottomless coffee and tea for £1.50. At lunchtime there was a great... More

Went, with two friends to this pub/restaurant on Friday 8th July as we fancied a night out with a good steak. Both myself and one friend had the sirloin steak with chips, onion rings and salad. My other friend had the chicken covered in chilli & cheese with salad. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals that were served in good... More

A big thanks to everyone at the Samuel Barlow. We gave them a very difficult task in feeding a very large group with no fixed arrival time. All of our party were fed and watered properly! Apparently food was very good (Thursday curry night) as was the service.
