Visited The Plough with a friend for supper. A good menu with Specials as well. The food was good and so was the service. A nice pub which is not overpriced

After watching our sons rugby match at a nearby club we popped into The Plough for a lunch with friends and family. A table for 12 was quickly set up inside while the kids played outside in the lovely garden. Between us we had the sea bass, pork belly, and cod fillet. All lovely dishes, although my pork was a... We went to the plough for a last minute light lunch as we were going out for dinner later. What great food! The lighter options were just what we were looking for...sausage & mash, fish & chips and pasta with bacon and mushrooms were all excellent and just enough to fill the gap between lunch and dinner. Great value and... More

A group of old friends enjoyed lunch here on a miserable afternoon & received a warm welcome with delicious food & laid-back atmosphere. The cod fillet was excellent, substantial & tasty. Many menu items tempted me so I will be back, in fact we all might be!

Stopped for lunch. Freshly cooked on the premises. I asked for duck breast to be really pink, and unusually for England it was.

Starters were good (tasty soup but nuked in the microwave to heat) but then I had the leek cannelloni which sounded lovely. However once it arrived it was either badly made (wouldn't get this past any Italian) or reheated several times to render it inedible. It was basically a slice of 'pasta cake'. The tomato sauce was non existent as... More

Visited with two friends, really attractive pub, easy to park. Staff were very friendly and offered great service. Food was lovely and all 3 of us enjoyed our meals. I had the burger which was more than just a simple burger! My friend had the special and was also very impressed. Price was good value.

Have just returned from a family Christmas Eve dinner at The Plough at Effingham, and I can only rate the experience as Poor for three reasons. Firstly, when booking we were never advised that there was a fixed menu of fish and chips or scampi and chips, followed by mince pies and coffee. Only after chasing The Plough myself for... More
