I honestly don't sit writing these reviews about the Merchants because I want to knock up my TA review total (because that would be sad!). I write these reviews because I love the Merchants & we frequent it a couple of times a month at...More

Following the Christmas Lunch in 2016, the team has decided that it was so good that we should go this year too. Excellent catering for gluten free even though there was a little bit of a mix up but the choice was very good. We...More

Great old pub in central Rugby. Cosy and inviting. Parking nearby. Food fine for a pub. Good range of drinks. Atmosphere and entertainment usually good.

My pub of choice when visiting rugby. Lots of great beers in a haphazardly designed interior. Lovely.

I don’t often write reviews at the lower end of the scale in terms of scoring, but, after some careful consideration think it’s appropriate. The Merchants is a good pub, but could be so much more. There are plenty of bottled beer menus scattered around...More

Lucky to have this pub as a local. Always delivered consistently good food and drink. Relaxed atmosphere. Great nights spent here for various events, including beer festivals, gin festivals, early morning rugby with high quality breakfast, Sunday dinners tasty, homemade and large portions. Went to...More

Known for it's real ales, ciders & great atmosphere (can highly recommend as a drinking pub), I've only eaten here twice & doubt I'll risk it again. The first time I had fish & chips that looked over cooked (both the fish batter & chips...More

Hi Chris I'm sad to hear of your experience at The Merchants. Our food service is an important part of the pub so this is a major concern we take seriously. I have looked into the case of the dark batter on your fish &...More

It's a large pub, sometimes has rugby on the big screen, lots of different people including the sort of people we like to hang out with. A nice place to go with decent people in it

I love this pub, it’s got a fantastic variety of beers, has a great atmosphere and is always vibrant. I love the different seating areas all around the place and with live music and decent food, what’s not to like.

Good old-fashioned British Pub serving the best traditional ales & ciders, continental beers, and delicious food. A must for any Rugby fan, this place is a mecca for locals looking to watch live matches. A fascinating pub with great locals, stacks of history, fantastic beer & food served by wonderful staff. What more could you ask for? - Oh and it's a stones-throw from where the game was invented!
