Thought I'd give this restaurant one last try after disappointing experiences in the past. My cheese scone was leaden and my friend's bread, which accompanied her soup was too hard to eat. On previous visits cakes have been dry and sandwiches taste overwhelmingly of cheap margarine. I won't be going back!

There is a varied... More

I was worried about taking a large party to eat here after reading recent reviews on here about new caterers..but needn't have worried, the food was very nice.I had stuffed Portobello mushrooms, really delicious, and about the same as gastropub prices.

This restaurant is in a sensitively converted stables courtyard, Georgian I guess, with surrounding stables converted to smaller dining areas, kitchens and toilets. It is attached to the original Wakehurst Place mansion, at the centre of a large wooded area owned by the National Trust and maintained by Kew Royal Botanic Gardens. The food this year is by Amphersand, who... More
