I have eaten at The Pass twice previously and enjoyed the whole experience, with the reasonably recent addition of Ian Swainson I was keen to try his food and see how his food fitted in. His food is quite unique and certainly different to the previous chef, however it seems to fit in well with the whole set up of... More

I took my daughter for Sunday lunch and was at first surprised that there was no choice - just a six or eight course tasting menu - with matching wines. But what a delight - the menu was imaginative, the courses small and delicious, my daughter tells me the wines were spot on (dad was driving) - and for drivers... More

This unique Restaurant located within the South Lodge Hotel in Lower Beeding West Sussex will give you a multi course Dinner of various small exotic dishes, and, with the respective chef comes to your table to describe each course in detail to explain the mixtures of flavours. Expensive but good value for a special occasion

When you visit here, prepare to have your taste buds challenged and what finer way than having a wine flight with it. We had the 10 course menu and you can take wine or a plethora of fruit based drinks that accompany the dishes as well. The food is exquisite and very well described by a member of the brigade,... The tasting menu was extremely disappointing, not to the standard of Michelin star, and very overpriced. The wines which were meant to match each course were poorly chosen and did not enhance the food. Overpriced and over-hyped.

Only the fourth time I've eaten here but each meal seems better than the last one. I particularly like the way the chefs bring the food to your table and are very pleased to talk in detail about the ingredients and cooking procedures. Head Chef does a brilliant job of devising new menus and the brigade are faultless. Front of... More

My girlfriend and I visited the South Lodge in early December for an 8-course taster lunch. It was a pleasant experience from the moment we drove into the estate until the moment we left. The hotel offers a valet service which makes for a good experience, especially when it is cold and raining. We arrived at The South Lodge an... More

Go for the 10 tasting course menu along with the wine flight, you will not be disappointed. The chefs cook and serve you and explain the dish. Their expertise and knowledge along with their enthusiasm made this a very special experience. Put it on your bucket list and try it, you won't be disapointed

The food was surprising, original, produced and served with an inclusive theatricality. I have never been in a restaurant with so many chefs, all working methodically, lots of light-hearted banter, each course presented by the chef who had plated it. One or two of the courses were... tiny, as if plated with tweezers under a microscope, but the flavours and... More
