6 of us stopped at Ross on a trip from Swansea to Port Arthur and needed food, coffee and a stretch. Bakery 31 serves great coffee and a wonderful scallop pie that's actually full of scallops. The staff were great and the town of Ross is absolutely magnificent.

We visited the other bakery, the Ross Bakery, many years ago and again last week. The scallop pies are very good and the vanilla slices downright excellent. So we decided to try Bakery 31. It seemed very popular so why not give them a go. The scallop pies were tasty but the pastry was terrible, just not properly cooked. The... More

We stopped for lunch at this cafe thinking it looked charming. I had the vegetable soup which was so salty. It was terrible. The bread that came with it was nice though. Very fresh. My husband had the big breakfast (without bacon). It was shockingly bad. The eggs looked as though they had been poached in the microwave and were... More

When heading to Hobart from Devonport I detoured via Ross. Stopped at Bakery 31 for brunch and enjoyed the rissoles; a generous and tasty meal. On the return to Devonport I called in again to have the lamb shank, mash and peas. The meal came with bread to mop up the rich sauce, all tasting delicious.

We called in here on a wet, cold day and found a lovely log fireplace and delicious pies. We had never tried a scallop pie before but loved them. A great place for lunch.

This is the best bakery I believe in Tassy. The scallop pies are amazing crunchy. Coffee is hot and creamy. Hard to choose what to eat! Wonderful choices. My favorite is the Banbury slice. Last holiday we visited regularly as we stayed in Richmond. Do yourself a favour and don't miss it!!!!

When you travel so far to try a scallop pie you owe it to yourself to compare the 2 bakeries in town. It was $1 cheaper here, but as the photo shows not the same standard as the Ross Bakery. The pie was smaller, as were the scallops, and the pastry fell apart, making it a little awkward to eat.

We called into the Bakery31 in Ross to savour a Tasmanian Scallop pie and we where not disappointed , fat scallops in a light sauce with a flakey butter pastry, don't drive past pop in!

Great place to stop for a coffee and stretch of your legs before moving on. Reasonably priced. We loved the apple strudel and pies
