My wife and I were part of a group of 26 pfamily and friends with 7pm reservations which descended upon this ancient restaurant to taste-test it's mettle in the local "off season." I can speak for only my wife and I: we didn't enjoy our meal except for the conversation. We are used to homemade Italian meals. Their famous tomato... More

Spaghetti sauce was good. Not fond of the ravioli. Heard about this place for a long not sure it lived up to all the talk.

Phil's Inn Restaurant has been a staple of Port Clinton, OH since 1948! In a small town, that says a lot about any small business. Though Phil's may not be the fanciest, most up to date restaurant, it is unique. The atmosphere takes you back to a simpler time when mom & pop shops ruled the roost. The homemade sauce... More

We had never been to Phil's before so decided to go last night. The place was so cold that they should have closed it. We decided to stay so we asked for coffee. When he brought the pot, it looked like weak tea. Obviously the machine wasn't working. The waiter kept telling us none of this was his fault. The... More

Just stopped in at Phil's for an order of the best spaghetti sauce in this part of the world. Walked in the door, since the signs were blinking "open". Hot spaghetti and a big pot of fresh sauce were in view, the television in the bar was on, and there was not a soul around. After a 10 minute wait,... More

Have only gotten take out lately as never sure when they will be open so we just stop when lights are on. Since the 1960's, my very, very favorite has been the Phil's Special sandwich, medium rare flavor filled ground beef with lightly grilled onions and provolone cheese served on thick slices of Italian bread. That is how I have... More

I have visited Phil's many times because I like their spaghetti. However, I do not take friends there because the inside looks like a dump. The booths have slits in them. The ceiling is a mess as is the carpet. The place is very dark, perhaps they hope you won't be able to see what a mess it is!

We stopped in here on a recommendation for dinner. There were only two other tables of people when we came in. A customer going out advised us to sit in back of restaurant as it was "warmer" near the kitchen. Well they were having problems with the heat for sure. I ordered fish and chips. Being near the water I... More

Phil's Inn has been in business for many years, with an unchanged recipe for homemade Italian fare. Unfortunately over the past five years or so, the restaurant has seen an unfortunate decline. The restaurant hours seem inconsistent throughout the seasons; I have came in several times for dinner and the restaurant was unexpectedly closed. My last few visits, I noticed... More
