We stopped here in early September. Looking for a decent place to eat. Great food. four course meal with liquer or root beer float for desert. Quaint. Western. Delicious. Friendly. Not a fast food place. We'll be back again

My family and I ate here for Christmas Eve. The food arrived cold. The men's restroom was not wheelchair accessible and I had to have my mom guard the ladies room door while I used that.

We decided to go for their Christmas eve special evening. The table was not ready at the time of reservation--that was not a problem, but the service was as it took a very long time to even get water. Other smaller parties were served much more quickly. The soup arrived very lukewarm though delicious. The remainder of the meal was... More

This was a wonderful dining experience. Situated near the center of Eugene, it is located in a charming Century home that has been furnished to maximize that homey, warm feel. We were lucky to be seated in front of a large window where we could watch Eugene drive by while dining. The food, while seemingly expensive evolves over the course... More

Very unpretentious surroundings but wonderful vibe and friendly service. The steaks were superb and well prepared with tasty veggies and and extras.

This is one of those mock Western Cowboy spots. Some can be bad. This one is good. The wall items are different, the lighting is low, the frills are few BUT the food is supremely good Western food. Juicy steaks of a challenging size cooked by somebody who knows what he is doing; a decent soup , fresh fish alternatives... More

Came in late on night and saw the Bates as I was driving!! Turned around and was pleasantly surprised by the converted older house atmosphere!! And the collection of Cowboy Hats in every room... Very good food served by friendly staff at price that didn't break the bank.. I'd go back....

We went for our anniversary hoping for a special meal and were disappointed in the quality of the food. The protein choice which was prepared well, was accompanied by a set menue of side dishes. These included a veggie soup that tasted like it had been cooking for days and 'cowboy' potatoes that were greasy and seasoned too heavily with... More

Bates has a fun country feel. They do things their own way but the result is amazing food and usually lots of it. Meals come with salad, cowboy soup, potatoes and rice, and an after dinner drink. Very fun and very tasty.

The food at Bates was excellent. We will choose to eat there again. We were walk ins early in the dinner hour and there was only one other table in the restaurant. Our ONLY complaint was that when another group of 3 came in they were seated right next to us - about 18" away on the bench seat. With... More
