Affordable fine dining at it best in an amazingly ambient cellar venue in the Willamette Valley wine country. The menu reflects a patchwork of complex, bold flavors pieced together from varied cuisines, brought together with classical technique. Extensive local wine and classic craft cocktails, small plates.
While staying at the Allison my fiends and I had dinner at the newly remodeled subterra in newberg.
The food was excellent, the service outstanding and the overall experience was excellent.
I have eaten at Subterra likely 10+ times over the last few years and have never been disappointed. The service is personal and attentive. The food is clever and thoughtful in both substance and presentation. Their wine list is impressive, as are their offered cocktails.

We made reservations here for dinner on the recommendation of several locals and did not regret it. Such a fun basement-level space with awesome food! Try the potato-scaled halibut! (And they easily accommodated my Celiac GF food requirements).
I'm in Portland for business quite frequently. On occasion we go to wine country for a tasting before dinner. This past week the recommended restaurant happened to be closed, but a quick Google search brought us to Subterra. We thoroughly enjoyed everything about dinner, even...though the restaurant was a bit hard to find in the fog and dark. I had the halibut, prepared in a unique manner, wrapped with thinly sliced potatoes and sauteed, with a wine reduction for the sauce, it was fantastic. It was accompanied by mushroom risotto, which was excellent. I don't remember what my associate had, but the meal was so good we went back with the client two days later.More
This restaurant was recommended to me by the staff at the local Best Western where I was staying. It is a little hard to find unless you know to look for it. But once you find it, it's worth the effort. It is down the...stairs, and the interior is cozy and warm, like a little bistro in Tuscany. The staff is helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. And the food is excellent. Three course dinners run from $31 to $38. Small plates ("tapas") run from$11 to $18. And they have an extensive list of good Oregon wines. This is a place I would return to again and again if I lived in the area. I am really sorry I will be unable to return. If you live in the area, please give SubTerra a try.More

I am not a wine drinker so when I go out it's just for the food. My family and I went to one of their 5 course meal specials. The food was good and the atmosphere was unique as it's like a wine cellar. The...cost was about $35.00 per person. Personally I like to order from the catering side better and the service is really good. I haven't been to dinner there since 2017 but trip advisor does not give this option.More
