My taste buds started watering when I saw the smokers going right outside. Gritty atmosphere. Great smoked meat. Excellent collards and cornbread. Reasonable prices.

We live in Hawaii and can't get the southern style BBQ with that great smoked flavor. The People's Pig filled the bill! We both loved what we ate. I had the BBQ beef sandwich and my husband had the ribs. Both to die for!

My son and I love this place. Everything here is good. Sides: macaroni and potato salad are amazing. Corn bread is so good it's dessert. Lamb, pork, chicken, etc. It's all amazing. One plate is enough food for two. Your clothes may smell like BBQ when you leave but it's so worth it. Then do to go also.

Oh man was I bummed out with this experience. The quality of the ingredients was good - I'll give them that. We just did not enjoy the flavors at all. Everything was very salty and the cornbread was cold. Portland has some quality BBQ spots, but this just isn't one of them. Service was okay.

The food was average served promptly in a space that I would envision as an an old school barbecue shack. Booth seating was very uncomfortable with what appeared to be metal back supports spaced approximately 2' apart leading to a decision not to linger too long. Portions were adequate and fairly priced. We tried a barbecue pork sandwich and a... More

We had the pork shoulder, fried smoked chicken, pulled pork and Cuban. All were great....what you would expect from a BBQ place.

I have eaten regularly at Peoples Pig for at least the past 6 months. It started with fall-off-the-bone tender ribs. Good side dishes. I have attributed the less frequent tenderness to growing pains, but have stayed with PP, until recently. I invited several people over for dinner, ordered several orders of ribs, picked them up, took them home (half hour).... More

I've eaten my share of smoked meat. But The People's Pig impressed even this jaded New Yorker. Tried the pork, lamb, and chicken, and all three were wonderful. The beautiful thick slices of smoked pork (loin?) on my first outing were among the best I've ever eaten anywhere, and the smoked fried chicken was like nothing I've ever tasted. Plus... More

In Portland for a quick business transaction, Cousin takes us to The People's Pig and felt like we were cooking in our own backyard! Was fresh, mouth watering delicious, and very personable. We definitely will dine there again.

My sister and I had seen the TV show raving about the smoked fried chicken sandwich and wanted to judge for ourselves. It was really good, for sure, but I actually liked the smoked pork sandwich better. The sauce on the fried chicken sandwich had a little bit too much heat for the flavors of the chicken. I would get... More
