Stumbled across this place and liked the look of the interior so we sat down for a late lunch. We each had a Combination: Pick Three lunch option: Soup, salad and sandwich. All was yummy at a fair price and the

The Picnic House is located in down town Portland in what had been a hotel lobby. The conversion to a restaurant appears to have worked out well with a rather spacious eating area with some side rooms for private gatherings with the main dining room below a several story atrium and the bar at the far end. The walls are... More

Tiger Tail drink was unique and refreshing. Try one, $10. Smore cake dessert was delicious. Other food that went buy as I sat at the bar looked good.

I was looking for a new place to have lunch and found this restaurant/bar by chance. Service was friendly, though not especially attentive. I ordered what turned out to be a rather novel approach to a BLT and a cup of soup, both of which were very good, though service could have been a little faster. The rehabilitation of the... More

Having read good reviews about this restaurant I had formed a certain expectation. Upon entering the staff was prompt and welcoming. I had a very friendly waiter. The decor is quite nice and generally people seemed to be enjoying themselves comfortably. My meal was served and all I could see was a piece of meatloaf, 2 pieces of (what looked... More

We arrived pretty late for dinner after checking into a nearby hotel. Service was very slow. We sat for quite a while before anyone came over even though only a few tables and plenty of staff walking around. The slow pace/lack of attention continued throughout the dinner. Appetizer and meal arrived at same time. Food was well presented but kind... More

I'll start with the pluses - the food and bar are both really good. We actually came in first for a drink, and liked the look of the menu so much we made reservations for a week later. Unfortunately, service does not do the food justice. Staff is friendly enough, but very rushed and disorganized. Pacing is completely screwy -... More

Great lunch. Got the 3 item combo and was a great fill up. Wild mushroom soup was really good, delicious. Salad had nice bacon lardos and chunks of gorgonzola. Got the special sandwich with my combo. Service was excellent and we were served and cleared rapidly. It was a great value lunch downtown. Would definitely return.

Having spend many hours in a work conference in the nearby Hilton Hotel I was looking for a tasty, heathy and modest priced lunch. This place ticked all the boxes. I had one of the best crafed Virgin Mary's I have ever tasted and had the combo soup, sandwhich and salad lunch including a great IPA beer, cheese and brocolli... More

We were there for lunch and had a limited amount of time. We got our orders quickly and everyone was pleased with what they had. Salad, soups and sandwiches were all excellent.
