This is our go-to place when we go to Portland. It's in NE Portland and not trendy or crowded, at least not when we go. There is good beer, wine and food and children are welcome.

Excellent fried chicken. Crispy but light, 2 large half breast and a wing. Served with mashed potatoes and country gravy. Took some home. All kinds of comfort food, full bar, very reasonable prices, large portions, good service, no nonsense.

We were especially impressed with the wonderful service at this restaurant. We arrived with 3 adults and a squirrelly 2 1/2 year boy and they treated us so nicely. The food was excellent...my husband ordered huevos rancheros, I ordered the vegetable scramble and my daughter ordered chicken fingers and fries. The server brought warm, wonderful scones while we waited for... More

What could be better than a delicious fried chicken dinner and one of the best tasting meat loaf dishes all served with fresh vegetables in a casual, friendly restaurant with good beer, wine, etc.? The food is not trendy, but old fashioned comfort food. The restaurant has tables and booths and children seem to be welcome there.

Went for breakfast and found the place mostly empty and without atmosphere. Food was a bit toward the greasy spoon variety and service was sometimes slow despite me being the only customer.

Two of us ate there last week. Both got sick that night...throwing up, diarrhea. Called next day. Owner not available. Asked for him to call me. Made the mistake of saying we'd gotten sick, I guess. He didn't call all day. Called again. Said I just missed him. I knew he was avoiding me now. Said she'd tell him I... More

Stopped in for breakfast this morning. 2 other tables were occupied besides ours. We were never greeted. No one around. So we sat at one of the many empty tables. Finally server came over and plunked down a couple glasses of water and walked away without a word. Ok - everybody has a bad morning once in a while. After... More

Sckavone's used to be a good restaurant. The last two times I have eaten there (for lunch), the eggs were not cooked on one occasion, and on a second visit the bacon was sort of grey, soft and greasy, as if it had been dipped in oil--oh, yes, and the bacon was cold to the touch. I must confess, I've... More

We were staying in an Airbnb nearby and happened upon this excellent spot for brunch. The interior is a little wacky. There are some chords strung about and some unfinished spots (the location used to be an old pharmacy), but the staff was friendly and it was busy. They brought out complimentary scones drizzled with honey with our coffee that... More

We've been coming here for years for the great service and fried chicken sandwich! It's one of the few places that has a good family atmosphere and something for everyone on the menu. The owner is always attentive, there are always a few good beers on tap and some awesome ice cream sundaes for dessert. We only consider ourselves regulars... More
