Great dining experience. Walk ins on a Wednesday night. While waiting we hit a wonderful local bar The Place in Roseburg ( excellent bartender). Dinner at TK involved the recommended short ribs - we split with 2 house salads - cocktails and drafts were wonderful...as well. Wrapped up with the House Creme Brûlée'. Excellent service and food- 5 StarsMore
We went to truest the other night and we’re very disappointed in the menu was hard to understand what you were getting and when we ordered our dinner at the server was very slow and not very attentive when the food came my mashed potatoes...and gravy were cold we would not recommend anyone going to truthMore
We had a lovely time at this restaurant. We did have reservations. We had a table for two by the window with 2 comfortable chairs. The wait staff was wonderful. The wine and beer excellent. The food was very good. The decor was tasteful and...relaxing. I would definitely go back!More
Had high expectations based off reviews, but when my husband and I tried True while in Roseburg on a vacation/work trip we were very disappointed in our meals. Service was wonderful, ambience was nice, the blackberry margarita was delicious and the Mac n cheese appetizer...is pretty good. However, my husband ordered the filet with mushroom risotto and asparagus ($36 which doesn’t include any bread or salad) and the steak was not great, the risotto was mushy and the sauce tasted like something in a microwave home dinner. I opted for the scallops (also around $35) and received 3 scallops that were ok but a little undercooked, veggies that had a funky taste and a pile of orzo that was not good at all with a weird consistency. Definitely not worth the price paid.More
I don’t know why we hadn’t heard of True Kitchen before - maybe because we are never in Roseburg around dinner time - but when friends asked for a recommendation, my husband found while it while looking for other information.
OMG - I am so...glad we made reservations and decided to drive the 90 minutes from the coast yesterday. True Kitchen is easily the region’s best fine dining restaurant, hands down. The menu had us drooling before we even got in the car.
My husband chose the scallops and I decided on the short rib, sharing a Caesar salad - probably the best either of us have ever had, with crostini instead of croutons. Our waiter Travis is also one of the mixologists, so he was very knowledgeable on both cocktails and wine, in addition to the details of each meal.
We both got exactly what we wanted for dinner, exquisitely prepared and beautifully presented. Travis paced our meal perfectly, always attentive but not obtrusive. My partner’s seafood was tender and moist, with just a touch of caramelization, served with orzo, carrots and haricots vert. The three scallops were resting on a bed of rich red corn polenta.
I was surprised my big, meaty short rib was boneless - it was fall-off-bone tender, rich and moist on its bed of silky mashed potatoes with sweet caramelized onions and sautéed spinach with some lovely heirloom carrots. There was just enough richly reduced demi-glacé. I had to work hard to not gobble down my food, it was SO delicious!
The long drive was definitely worth it to we two coastal foodies!More
True is unquestionably our nicest restaurant in Roseburg. The food is upscale and the prices match. Not only is the food tasty, the portions are generous. I often leave upscale restaurants hungry, but not here. This time we enjoyed our favorites: filet mignon perfectly cooked...(me), scallops (husband), brussel sprouts and bacon as an appetizer (large portion), and a scrumptious butterscotch creme brulee with Chinese five spice whipped cream. The owner visited our table to check on us and we enjoyed a nice conversation with her. I would have rated them a 5, however we weren't asked if it was ok to be seated in the noisy bar area and our waiter was also the bartender, who was very distracted, albeit trying hard. Check out my pictures. We will return again and again.More
