This was our second time visiting The Dalles and eating at canton wok. The food was amazing and plentiful - we had the pot stickers (best pot stickers ever) and two happy hour entrees (amazing and smaller than the standard entrees but still very large). We could not eat more than half all the food between two of us. The service is very friendly - you feel like you are a valued regular even when you have only been there twice in 6 months. We would return anytime we are in The Dalles.

Needed to have dinner in The Dalles before heading back home, so we stopped here, and are we glad! Some of best hot and sour soup we've had, good egg foo yung and great sweet and sour chicken (always my measuring stick) both our meals make this the place we'll eat while in town. From what we saw coming out of the kitchen, the portions were quite large from the regular menu. We ordered the "Senior pick two" (which included soup) and could barely finish it. Newer decor, fairly attentive staff.Recommend you try this restaurant.

I have been to this restaurant a handful of times just to see if the food could get better No. Not only is it bad, but each meal resembles the other. If you took all the celery and onions from your plate, you would see little food. WhenI got my last order from there, it didn't even look like what I ordered; it looked like all the other meals (Except for the greasy deep-fried foods).
Be forewarned if you like good Chinese food.

I have been going to Canton Wok for years, always happy with the food. Did they change owners? It was the worst food ever.The egg flower soup was bland and starchy, the chow mein was 3/4 celery and had alot of garlic.The chicken and shrimp was so dry, we figured out what the brown gravy was for.Then my daughter found a wire (like a brillo pad ) in the egg roll. Im not one to throw out food but we did. Never again will i go there. Picture of wire

Have eaten about half a dozen times over the past years. I really wanted to love it, so that’s why I kept going back....But, it’s not very good at all. In fact, none of the Asian foods in the Dalles are.

So in reading reviews I thought this would be a great place for a quick lunch. I was wrong. In the end my husband stated it was the worst Chinese food he's ever eaten. I actually had worse so I'll give it 2 stars because the place was clean.
I don't remember what my husband had but he didn't care for it and it came with several extra sides that he didn't eat. I tried his spring roll and won ton and didn't finish either. My husband asked to sub steamed rice for the fried and our kid ate some of that, but not much.
I had a combination with egg foo yung, mar far chicken and fried rice. The egg foo yung had yellow gravy. No idea what that was supposed to be but after 1 bite I couldn't eat any more. Odd overall flavor. The fried rice was just ok but I had to eat around the gravy that ended up on it. The far mar chicken was no better. The best was the egg flower soup.
My husband even complained about the water. Overall, we left most of the food and neither felt like eating much the rest of the day with sour stomachs. Would NEVER return or recommend. I apologized to him for suggesting it.
Plus, the service was sloooow. It seemed to take forever to get our order taken and then awhile to get our food and then bill.
At least the table and the bathrooms were clean.

We had dinner at Canton Wok on a one night stopover in The Dalles and would return here anytime we are in the area. This seems to be a family run place and was full of locals. It is easy to see why - the service is friendly and fabulous, the food is great, and the prices are extremely reasonable. We had the pot stickers for an appetizer and the orange chicken as our shared entree. I don't believe I have ever seen such a large serving of an entree - we took more home than we ate - but this is definitely not quantity over quality - the food was amazing. This is a great place for dinner.

We stopped here for lunch when passing through The Dalles because they donated a gift certificate to a charity I support. The $30 certificate was enough to cover dinner for two with almost half of the money left over; plus a to-go box since the portions are huge. They are on my list for dinner again next trip, and many more after that.

This is not a fancy restaurant. It is heavily supported by the locals the night we were there. We ordered the orange chicken which was very very good and the amount of food was far too much for the two of us to eat at one sitting.

This is the best Chinese food I have ever had. We stopped for dinner after shopping and was very surprised at the wonderful food we received. I had enough to take home for another meal. The waitress was great and attended to all of our needs.

This review is not meant to say their door is anything less than tasty. The problem is my tasty "Vegetarian" dish nearly put me in the hospital!
I told the woman at the front counter I am dangerously allergic to shellfish and that oyster sauce is also a problem for the same reason. She clearly understood English and was even speaking with a local at length.
When the to-go came I asked for her reassurance again which she gave.
Got back to my hotel room and started eating. The broccoli tasted a little fishy but I was starving and the food tasted good. When I got to more broccoli and tasted it again I stopped. I was too late. My tongue swelled to twice its size. If not for chewing one Benedryl and consuming another I would have been ER bound! I had to cancel all of my meeting the following day and I drove half dead to my next destination.
DO NOT EAT HERE IF YOU HAVE ALLERGIES! Safe to say they don't wash anything between customers even when you tell them you are allergic!

Have stopped here several times. Food always good and plentiful. One dinner entree can easily feed two adults. Had the orange chicken. Delicious.
Be careful of the traffic outside.
