I have eaten here several times and each time I go there the prices go up. A normal vodka drink that would cost $10 somewhere else is $18. The quantity of food you get has gone down. Yes, it's good most of the time, but portions are smaller and prices are higher. I don't know how the locals can afford to eat there.

Improved overall since COVID shutdown; smell, ambience. Pleased side veggies not overcooked, and salad not sad ice bird lettuce! Yay! Improved! Happy! Overpriced tho with a simple menu. 3 star eats for me.

Delicious coconut shrimp and fish and chips. We found the filet a bit on the bland side, but overall, the ambiance is fantastic and the staff is welcoming. Worth a try!

Do you want to have a local experience? Then have dinner here! We went because the desk at Celillo Inn said this is where locals go. Who could resist? From the outside, it looks unimpressive and ugly. Inside, you will find a Midwest U.S. supper club! Booths with red leather. A wall of photos of local luminaries whose fame extends throughout Oregon at best. Food is okay to good. My spouse said the drinks are “a strong pour”. The food was okay too good, not gourmet, but dessert is a scoop of peppermint ice cream in an old fashioned metal cup. Reservations are a must. They feature steak, which is good although not great, and they run out early. We love this place because it is an experience rarely found today. Music from the fifties, Que Sera etc. Why go to The Dalles to go to a brewpub? The food may be better, but the experience here is something unique these days.

Gunner at the Celilo Inn suggested that we might like this place. He said it was a local favorite, and no wonder! It features prime rib, steak, and sea food; I had the prime rib sandwich, which was tasty and filling. Cocktails are good pours and reasonably priced. And the atmosphere is special: carpeted, so the noise level is low and you can easily hear your campanions; low lights for intimacy; linen table cloths and napkins for a nice touch. The staff was professional and chatty. and the prices were quite reasonable. With complimentary peppermint ice cream for dessert, served in pewter ice cream cups. Reminded us of a Midwest supper club, for those of you familiar with those.

Prime rib tender, massive amount of non breaded finger steaks, calamari was good, delicious salad...best part the friendly service. Rachel even offered to help me find the special sweet drop peppers that were on the salad. Enjoyed listening to the jazz, even our daughter commented that one of the songs was from a movie she had seen. Great little find right off the highway.

I am actually at a loss for words. I feel really sorry for the wait staff. 2 couples, trying to have a belated Christmas get together. We went here as 1 of the parties had had French Onion soup as well as a decent meal in December with a large party of 10-11. When we reviewed the menu, they were not offering it, when we asked about, we were informed they have not had it for years! So apparently they had just dreamed it? Moving on, the men ordered prime rib. 1 of them was having trouble cutting his steak which was odd, except when he and his wife touched it, it was still partially frozen. The wife took it back to the kitchen her self. Enter Jay Kane, the owner. He came over to our table and verbally accosted the party who sent the steak back, called him a trouble maker and accused him of just trying to get a free meal! Then he went into the kitchen and brought out the whole cutting board that the prime rib was sitting on. After the owner finally removed himself out of our faces, Jackie the replacement waitress came over and apologized profusely. At first they were going to comp the one dinner, but ended up comping the whole ticket, which was probably more than they needed to do, as 2 of the 4 had an ok dinner. The grilled chicken on the salad was ice box cold, but at least it wasn't frozen. It is a real shame as the fine dinning options in this city are limited. Its too bad the system doesn't allow a minus rating. The poor rating is for owner food, NOT the waitress's.

Not familiar with the area so we took a taxi . Website said no reservations needed. Serveral people recommend this restaurant which is why we choose it.. We get there and the first thing we are asked is do you have a reservation?. We said no Well we are booked. You can call and see if a table opens later. They would not even let us wait at the bar for our taxi to return it was 97 degrees outside. The hostess could cared less So we waited outside cooking on the heat for our taxi to return and d take us elsewhere. Will never recommend or return to this place.

Hi-Way House certainly did not meet our expectations. Hubs had the Hi-Way Parmesan (with pork) and I had the prime rib. His soup was barely warm (my salad was good), his pork was overcooked and had no flavor of parmesan. It was supposed to have a creamy peppercorn sauce, but there was so little, it was barely noticeable. My prime rib was well cooked, but full of fat and silverskin. My vegetables were cold. The restaurant itself was dirty - the booths were greasy, the windowsill appeared to not have been cleaned in at least a year (if you had brushed up against it, your clothes would be dirty). The service was satisfactory but not very friendly. In short, it wouldn't take much to improve this restaurant, but I wouldn't go back and wouldn't recommend it.

My wife & I had heard great things about this place, so he took a 2-hour drive (from Yakima,WA) to see for ourselves last night. It was wonderful. The food and service were outstanding. We had three appetizers (Coconut Shrimp, Crab Cakes & Stuffed Mushrooms) each was well prepared. I then had some of the best Peine Rib I can remember and my wife had a juicy and tasty Pork Tenderloin. Glad we made the trip - we will be returning

Restaurant had our table reserved. The roses I ordered were on the table when we sat down. The food was excellent as well as the service. We got a complimentary dessert because it was my girlfriend's birthday. And complimentary glasses of champagne. The red wine was excellent. I had the porterhouse and had the best garlic mashed potatoes I've ever eaten

Music was from the 40s, bar was quaint, restaurant somewhat plain. Good service, sirloin steaks were done perfectly, busy. Looks so so on the outside, but. worth going to.

The dinner salad was incredible and fresh. We had prime rib, available after 5pm. Take your time, enjoy a drink and enjoy your dining companions. It's a hidden gem with history.

It my not look like much from the outside, but this is a hidden gem! It is surely one of the best restaurants in the area, The owner history goes back generations, and they honor those who came before them by maintaining the quality of the food and service. I will certainly visit them again.
