I had an amazing experience there, me and my partner went there for breakfast and decided a couple days later to go for dinner. Upon getting there we were seated and my daughter became fussy I tried everything I could to get her calmed down but couldn’t so I became overwhelmed, one of the amazing ladies that works there seen that I was having a hard time and asked if I wanted her to take her while I ate. I agreed and was able to calm down myself and eat a hot meal while she walked around the tractor with my daughter getting her calmed down. I’m a first time mom and she seen that I needed help I couldn’t catch her name but she was absolutely amazing. I hope she’s able to see this and know that I greatly appreciated her.

We stopped on a Sunday at noon and of course we had a bit of a wait which should be expected given the day and the time. Our waitress was cheery in spite of how busy they were. Seeing the size of their Omelettes my husband and I decided to share one but what we ordered was not what we got. The Omelette was still quite tasty and when we pointed it out the mistake to our server she apologized and said we could get another omelette but since we were traveling through we didn't want to wait for a second omelette. Soon her manager showed up and ended up offering us a bowl of Irish stew as well as comping our breakfast. These days you don't see people go out of their way to make a slight mistake correct and we really appreciate our server as well as her manager for going the extra mile. I wish I could recall the names but unfortunately I do not. The food was excellent even though it wasn't what we ordered, the decor is cute kind of rustic barn motif. So because of the good food and service above and beyond this rates of five star in our opinion.

Had dinner there one night. Meatloaf was pretty good. My wife's shrimp platter was cold (had to be sent back) and greasy. Also had breakfast there one morning, standard bacon and eggs type stuff. Average, not a whole lot better.

We walked in and were seated, the waitress came by took our food and drink order, she brought our drinks and that was all. several tables that arrived 20 minutes after us received their meals and we decided to give it 10 minutes, all the wait staff were sitting up front and no one came back to check on us. we finally decided to say something and walk out and ate elsewhere.
No rating for their food, since we didn’t get that far and well the service we received was not adequate. I don’t think our waitress place the order or never bothered to check with the kitchen.

I used to love going to Cousin's but after tonight it's doubtful that I'll go again any time soon. They missed the mark by a long way tonight and it's not the first time they have in the last 6 months. Service in the bar when ordering a dinner to go took a really long time, probably because there was only one waitress. The machine I was given to pay on while waiting to order was broken and after gulping most of my$40 wouldn't even let me cash out. The dinner I ordered to go was the full size pot roast dinner for $16. I would have been happy to pay that for the pit roast dinner I've had there before but this was not close to it. The meat was good and it was the usual portion. I had to hunt for the mashed potatoes and there was only a bare scattering of what looked like cooked diced frozen carrots or possibly diced sweet potatoes. Even after tasting them I can't tell you for sure what they were. There was no roll at all and that's usually the best part of having dinner at Cousin's. Idk. Maybe it was just an off night but I won't be back anytime soon.

Cousins' Restaurant and hotel are fantastic. The staff are are very kind and helpful, the setting is very welcoming, and the food and services are great! Oshina in the restaurant and Addie in the hotel manage great teams and make the overall experience an excellent one with a warm small town vibe and very fair prices. I ate here for dinner twice during a quick trip to The Dalles, first in the restaurant proper then the lounge. The first thing I have to address is the food. The portion sizes are are INSANE! I don’t think there is anything small at this place which is great for taking leftovers back to your hotel for later, so keep that in mind when ordering. Both of my meals were excellent and warming which was a bonus because it poured buckets while I was there. Both nights I had dinner were extremely busy and the staff was still super friendly and attentive. I hardly had to wait to be seated and my food came quickly yet the staff still had time to chat a little bit which was very much appreciated. I would eat here again should I find myself back in The Dalles.

We have visited Cousin's quite a few times in the past and always enjoyed the food. We tried it for lunch and were surprised at the increase in prices on the menu. Almost 17 dollars just for a burger and fries...We were hungry so we placed our order. I ordered a burger with fries, my husband ordered a waffle, with bacon. It took over 30 minutes for us to recieve our food. Once we got our food, the wait staff never checked on us. She didn't bring us the bill, and I had to go to the cash register to request the bill. The food was ok, but the service was horrible. I'm not sure if we will be back.

A cute welcoming restaurant close to the freeway. It was busy which is usually a good sign. My hubby had the chicken and dumpling soup and Reuben sandwich. Both were very good, he said. I noticed the sandwich had lots of meat, not skimpy at all. I had the French onion soup which was delicious. It came with homemade bread that was tasty as well. Wanted dessert but just too full. They have a very small gift shop area that was nicer than I thought it would be. Was tempted to buy at least one item but didn’t.

Cousins is a 5 out of 5 on hospitality, home made delights, and service. The Tuscan chicken soup I ordered was perfectly seasoned. My friend ordered a top sirloin steak well done. I usually hate well done steak because it end up being over done and hard to chew but not at Cousins. It was tender and delicious. No steak sauce needed. My daughter ordered their Cousins bacon cheeseburger with bottomless fries. It’s so big she couldn’t finish it and had to take it togo. It was my best friends birthday and they brought us an 8 layer chocolate raspberry cake. It melted in our mouths and was the perfected ending to the night.

I'm not sure how this is so highly rated. It's fine, but it is what you would expect when you drive by, or the second you step in the front door. Staff was friendly enough, but the food was just average. A sandwich that costs this much shouldn't be served on standard Oroweat bread. I wasn't disappointed, but my expectations weren't set very high. At least they were open.

We stopped by the restaurant after a hard day of mountain biking on Mount Hood. We were tired, sore, and hungry. We were met at the door by the manager and had a table for six in less than a minute. But it was Jenny, our waitress, that made this special. She had a great sense of humor, was helpful without being pushy, and really loved her job. In my job, I observe and consult with companies regarding culture. This place has a great culture and it shows with everyone we met. On to the food. The servings were large, moderately priced, and delicious to the last crumb. The cinnamon rolls are reason enough for a stop. We also stayed at the hotel but it was the restaurant, and Jenny, who won us over. Great job all around.

Try "Two Chick" in Reno, NV. Two Chick has some imagination. I would recommend that Cousins Restaurant takes a trip to Reno for a great menu. It took some time to decide something to eat from their lack luster menu. I finally tried their vegetarian omelette. It Lacks Luster! Now if Cousins would like to take a learning lesson go to Sherri's Restaurant and get the same omelette at about the same price. Ask Sherri's to put the cheese sprinkles on top! Wow do they have an omelette. The Cousins decor is not as good as the pictures but does earn a grade of "B."

After a VERY disappointing experience at another restaurant (never got seated even after waiting 10 minutes. Staff could clearly see us but chose to ignore us) we got back in our car and drove around looking for anther place to eat. We saw the name and chuckled a little because we are cousins and attached at the hip. My cousin then said "Let's try it. Why not? The name has to be a sign". Boy am I glad we did! We were seated right away and served quickly. The food was out of this world and the waitress was VERY attentive. We have a small farm between Bend and Redmond but come to The Dalles for a day trip quite often because we simply love it there. This is our new place of choice to eat. Can't wait to return.

My wife and I really enjoyed Cousin's Restaurant. How can you not like a restaurant that plays cow and rooster sounds as you enter and has a whole tractor as decor? It was a cold and snowy day and the fire in the boiler right near the door was nice. We were seated quickly and all the staff were very friendly. I had bbq ribs with a bean medley and veggies. The veggies were not tasty to me but everything else was great. My wife had a veggie burger with onion rings and loved it. They had a small gift shop with cool items and a counter full of home-made goodies...which we bought to go. We loved it so much we went back the next day for breakfast.
