The atmosphere was cool with old rock and roll playing-not too loud that we couldn't chat. Service was great. We had 2 sandwiches with tater tots/ potato salad and one glass of wine and the bill was under $30.00.

I went in the front door and didn't realize i should seat myself. This place looks like a place that the locals go so they may understand about seating yourself. There is another door on the side that opens to a little counter that has the sign to seat yourself and it has a counter to order coffee, etc. The... More

Friendly folks. Good soup and sandwich. A comfortable place to relax and socialize. A choice between eating at the bar, in the main area and outside.

This is really the only good place to eat in Veronia that we could find. If you ride up on bikes, there is a bike rack in the back lot behind the restaurant. There is an outside area to eat. The food was good and well prepared. I had the turkey melt and it was large and very tasty.

Food was average at best, nothing special. I was there for breakfast. the eggs were not cooked as I asked nor was the bacon. The bacon was over half fat. Getting up to get your own coffee was not a special thing for me. The waitress was pleasant but hurried. The food took forever to come out of the kitchen.... More

to be as small as it is, there's several choices for eating in vernonia and black iron is one you have to try. i do most of the time i pass through on a quick jaunt out of portland, and yesterday i had one of the best reubens ever. nothing you wouldn't expect, which is sometimes really what you want.

A really cool place. A lot of history here when logging was king! Seating in three locations, outside, inside and at the bar. The bar is filled with memorabilia of the site of a barber shop! Haircut 65c, shave 35c, if you worked at the saw mill haircut only 50c. Two major movies filmed here, The Oregon Trail with Fred... More

We have been in Vernonia for two days and had breakfast at the Black Iron Grill both days. We will likely eat there again tomorrow before we depart! The servers are friendly and quick and the breakfast menu is plentiful. There are multiple self serve coffee options as well as a large variety of 'designer' coffee options such as lattes,... More

After a walk through town following a bicycle ride on the Banks-Vernonia Trail, we decided this looked like the most popular place in town for lunch. While the indoor restaurant and pub was dark and uninviting, the outdoor area was nicely done with plenty of seating. The Hot Boy sandwich (ham, turkey, swiss) and fries was excellent as was the...
