We were in Hershey again, and our friends decided to drive down from Philadelphia to have dinner with us. We were not sure how that would work out, as, right now, many restaurants are closed, many menus are limited, and we had misgivings about it...being worth going anywhere. However, last year, we went to The Mill, had a lovely lunch, saw that they are open for dinner, and decided to make reservations. Our reservation was for 4 pm on Thursday (10/8).
Our friends arrived at our Hotel at 2, and we had wine and cheese, while catching up in the Lobby. We were at The Mill promptly at 4, and were seated at a very cozy, and out of the way, corner table. I ordered the "Poached Pear Sangria', and it was just as good as I had remembered it. My husband had wine (Malbec), and our friends both had a beer. I could eat scallops every day, I love them so much. However, on this two week trip, this was the only time I had a chance to eat seafood. They were absolutely heavenly. Our friends had the salmon, and the Maryland crab cakes, and were delighted with the food and the presentation. My husband was the only "not so happy" person at the table, as he said that his lamb chops were very tough, and he regretted ordering them. But, we were having such a good time, that food became "almost" secondary.
Service could not have been better, or more attentive. We lost track of time, and noticed the restaurant filling up. Online, when I made the reservation, there was a note about, "please limit your time here to 90 minutes", however, we were there for 2 and a half hours, and all seemed well. Nonetheless, when we asked for another round of drinks, we were very gently and politely told, that others were waiting for our table. Woops!
Went back to the hotel, and "partied" some more. It was a truly exceptional evening.More
