I gave Maggie’s 3 tries because of my first visit. I went alone and had the filet special on a friends recommendation. It was perfect. The steak was cooked to perfection and rivaled US upscale steakhouses. So on thanksgiving I decided to go again with...the friend who recommended the place. The steak was like beef jerky for us both on this visit. Tonight I decided I should go once more as the first meal is the best I’d had in 8 months in Central America. I ordered the shrimp pasta and it was inedible. I did let them know bits it’s Nica and they don’t really care. I paid my tab and left with 3 bites taken. I would recommend this place As the odds don’t seem to be in the favor that you’ll hit the lottery of that first meal that I had.More

Very pretty outdoor dining with great steak and decent prices but the bill came with 10% added on to it. No description just 10%. When asked if it was tax the waitress said yes then when I asked if it was a tip she said...yes service. We left over half of the 10% recommended as the waitress was not at all friendly and barely spoke when taking our order and didn't again after. She actually chased us out asking for the rest. I had to come back into the restaurant and talk to who I presume is the owner. She was French, when I asked was the 10% compulsory she acted like she didn't understand and said it was ok if I didn't have it, ignoring that I had actually left a tip that I felt was deserved, just not what they requested. Very awkward and totally ruined what would have been a nice meal. Disgraceful that somehow it has become totally expected to tip a minimum without actually getting good service.More

Still the best place to eat in San Juan del Sur. Best steaks in town.Great sauces. Tasty chicken. Full bar. Good prices. Really nice atmosphere dining in the garden area, Maggie is the sweetest host/owner.

I always enjoy my meals here. The food is wonderful--especially the jalapeno chicken and the tomahawk steaks. Maggy is a lovely hostess and makes you feel welcome. Her staff is trained to welcome you upon entering and trust me, this is unusual in Nicaragua. Clearly,...a high degree of importance is placed on service here. The garden setting is lush and tropical and very relaxing.More

Great burger, very meaty with good side of fries and a separate jalapeño tasty dip for $1. Half chicken portion was good too. The steaks coming out looked great, so we returned for the new York steaks a couple of nights later, and were not...disappointed. Rum and cokes on 2 for 1 promotion all night.Waitress was really stroppy, so didn't bother with an  additional tip.More

We have been to SJDS four times and Maggy's (as this restaurant is also known) is still our favourite! It does not look like much from the outside but walk in and you are sitting in a beautiful courtyard (which seems always to have a...nice breeze!). Food quality is excellent. Try the chicken curry...that was our go-to dish and 2 for 1 mojitos!More

Ordered the Mahi-mahi with garlic sauce. The fish came, drenched in a garlic sauce, so potent that you could not taste the fish. I asked the waiter if I could order something else and she removed my plate from the table. After some time elapsed,...she returned with my plate and said that the owner said I could not order anything else. She put the plate in front of me and walked off. The owner then came over and told me that this is how garlic sauce should taste and walked off.I did not have dinner and when we asked for the bill, I was asked if I'd like the fish, to go!More

We wandered past here a few times but it has MAGGYS RESTAURANT overhead and decided to give it a try. We were blown away by the quality and portion size. Amazing value. I had the grilled chicken breast which was massive and Tasty! The other...half had the curry which was massive and filling on a hungover stomach! We decided to come back again and we had the fish fillet and chicken cordon bleu which was once again great. Come here if you get the chance!More
