My fiancé got the fish and chip, the portion was huge. I got the burger which was seasoned nicely. We started with the mushroom appetizer that was really delicious. Great dinner.

Really nice looking pub, however the nice menu had a number of options unavailable. The staff were rude, and the food was overpriced rubbishy.

A friend and I called in for a drink at teatime on a sunny Thursday in August. Hebden Bridge was buzzing and basking in the summer sunshine with folks enjoying the hospitality of all the local hostelries. We approached the bar where the solitary barman...More

Overpriced food, snooty waiters and no ambience. Avoid at all cost. A shame as it looks like a nice pub from the outside, but we would not return.

Booked for 6:30. Staff friendly. Food good (although 3 stars takes into account either over cooked or over delayed in delivery fish dish). Ordered wine only to be told it was not available. We had two youngish children who wanted pudding. Ordered two ice creams...More

Came here last Sunday, and found the food to be poorly cooked, over priced and with small portions. I ordered sea bass with risotto and scallops. The fish was overcooked, and the skin hadn't been seared. The risotto was overcooked, mushy and bland. And the...More

Great for all the multicolored fashion parade, vintage pensioner rock by powerful progressive music makers.

Pleasant environment.. they could get rid of the coke syrup dispenser and when their board says meals available until,8pm it would be good to get a meal at 715 instead of being told the kitchen is closed .. otherwise pleasant with reasonable food

Hi Andrea. Absolutely - love dogs! They are very welcome in the bar areas, and also in the Courtyard Cottage rooms if you plan to stay overnight. Ask the bar staff when you arrive and they will give your furry friend a bowl... More

The White Lion is a traditional coaching inn; with exposed timber and masonry, an abundance of comfortable corners to hide in, and always a warm and friendly atmosphere. Set on a riverside location in central Hebden Bridge, the inn has always been well known for fine country ‘pub’ dining, and its extensive choice of wines and real cask ales. All of which can be enjoyed throughout the year, whether that be in front of a roaring log fire, or in one of our scenic riverside cobbled courtyards. Surrounded by true Yorkshire history, the stunning countryside of the Pennines, and the deep ravined valleys of Calderdale; the area is popular with walkers, cyclists, country lovers, and those just in search of a contrast to a hectic lifestyle. Although nestled in the centre of the town near the ‘Yorkshire Bohemian’ shops for which Hebden Bridge is quite famous; the countryside can be easily accessed by foot straight from the doorstep of the inn. And that same doorstep has frequently offered a place of respite to many attempting the Pennine Way, or the more recent Tour De France cycle route. If sight-seeing is more your activity, then the famous sites of Haworth (with its Bronte Sisters and Railway Children heritage) and the World Heritage Site of Salts Mill in Saltaire, are all within very easy access. Close enough to the main rail and motorway networks, and just far enough away from the vibrant cities of Leeds and Manchester; the White Lion is ideally based for business or leisure. And if you were to require an excuse to stay with us for longer, then there are 10 spacious en-suite rooms to choose from. The newly refurbished Boutique bedrooms, with Victorian Roll-Top baths, Sleigh beds, and deep luxurious colours; are complemented by our cosy Courtyard Cottages - perfect for walkers, dog friendly, and with the riverside literally at your front door. All rooms benefit from free Wifi. Dated 1657, the White Lion is reputed to be the oldest building in the beautiful town of Hebden Bridge, which is renown for its independent lifestyle, creativity, and philosophy - the Yorkshire way! We very much look forward to extending a real Yorkshire welcome to you soon...
