We decided to stay at the Pheasant Inn again because it was very good on a previous trip. We were just as pleased this stay. Our room was comfortable, clean & roomy. The wifi was responsive and reliable. The evening meal and breakfast were enjoyable and the staff helpful. We would definitely stay again.

Located in a splendid countryside location, this hostelry is worth travelling the extra mile to experience. Good beer selection, relaxed, excellent menu and wine list, packed full of taste and great service. Good value for money. What more could you want?

We stayed for a couple of nights at the Inn as we were going to a wedding locally. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. They had storage heaters which heated up nicely and lovey bathrooms. We stayed for dinner in the evening and it was delicious with a good choice of wines. Breakfast everyday was lovely and the staff... More

I needed to find a restaurant close to the M4 to meet with my American boss and stumbled across this place and it was a great find. The food was great (I had the mackerel which was excellent and even my boss who is usually a critic of "British" food was impressed), the staff were attentive and really friendly and... More

Nice and clean and welcoming staff, quality of the food was good. However for this type of establishment we found it rather expensive and portion size is small. Plain fish and chips was £14. With only about a dozen large chips. To be fair it was nice and hot. Biggest problem for us was that tables are very close and... More

If you want a really nice traditional pub that serves great food with a lovely atmosphere, this is the place to go. Jack, Mark, Kenneth The Viking and the rest of the team are all very friendly and attentive. The accommodation is really nice and reasonably priced too! Lovely food, great selection of beers and ales, every gin and whiskey... More

Everytime when we're in England to see our friends and family we try to fit in a visit in the Pheasant. This time we were quite surprised to find it totally done up compared to our last visit. We were lucky to get a table because it was fully booked on Friday noon. The service was quick and our drinks... More

Planning a dinner with friends in a midway point proved to be more taxing than expected. The mission to find decent food around Lambourn / Great Shefford. The Trip Advisor search didn't help as reviews of most places were very mixed. Fortunately, a personal recommendation led us to the Pheasant Inn - which strangely didn't appear in my search. It's... Description
Bordering the village of Shefford Woodlands, The Pheasant has a hospitality pedigree that stretches back 450 years to when it first sheltered drovers herding livestock from Wales to London. Today, the newly refurbished pub and its eleven en-suite guest rooms offer an adventurous drinks menu, flavoursome modern British cooking, luxurious accommodation with outstanding value - and a warm, relaxed welcome. In January 2016, Jack Greenall became The Pheasant's new landlord and set about launching a new chapter for this well-loved local landmark. A sensitive refurbishment has brought the bar and restaurant a new, relaxed elegance with rich colours, comfortable furnishings and atmospheric lighting. Whether you pull up a vintage leather bar stool, hunker down in our cosy snug with its quirky print gallery and bespoke selection of local and general interest books or join friends at a table in the main dining space, it's a great place to sample our broad and imaginative drinks range and regularly changing menu which showcases the freshest and best local produce and unfussy, flavoursome cooking. Our approach to food is all about bringing together the best ingredients, simply and deliciously. Rooted in classic modern British cooking, our menu showcases the freshest meat, fish, vegetables and fruit and finest artisan products from around the country, while our diverse daily specials let us put local and seasonal ingredients centre stage. And then there's our accommodation, recently added and even more recently refurbished. Our guest bedrooms have all the relaxed, home-from home comfort you'd expect from a country pub, with the minute attention to detail of a smart hotel and a fresh, modern design approach. Elegant fluted armchairs, buttoned ottomans and individually hand-picked artworks are among the characterful features, while bathrooms, two of which have bathtubs as well as high-quality powerful showers, are stocked with indulgent handmade toiletries. All new bookings also include your choice from our full Breakfast Menu.
