Lovely atmosphere. Nice and warm. Christmas decorations had just gone up too. Plenty of choice to eat and drink. Staff were friendly and helpful. Prices not too bad either. Well worth a visit!

Visited this restaurant and was very disappointed. I thought I would treat myself to one of the more expensive fish dishes a "Smoked Seafood Salad" According to the menu, the fish is from "the smokehouse at St. Mawes" making you believe the fish is going to be fresh, tender and very tasty. How wrong could you be! The piece of... More

The Bowgie is a superb pub/restaurant overlooking Crantock beach. Loads of ambiance, especially in the old bar with a blazing fire. There's an extensive menu with something for everyone. However, don't go for the fish and chips - the fish is coated in batter which is so thick and heavy it makes it really unpalatable.....a great disappointment! Go for the... More

After a long journey on the train, after unpacking we headed to the Bowgie Inn. Lovely welcome from staff, who were very happy to help on selecting drink/food etc. One lad even helped my friend with her phone as she was having trouble with it. She had steak, I had the homemade quiche with salad , excellent food, but oh... More

After a morning of walking on the South Coast, we drove back to Newquay through wind, rain and hail, deciding the weather warranted a nice pub lunch and with its stunning views, the 'pub bit' of The Bowgie seemed like the perfect choice - it didn't disappoint. With the log burner roaring and red wine served perfectly at room temperature,... More

Fabulous position which is clearly the main attraction here. Very relieved to find dogs not allowed inside the pub because the whole area is doggy paradise and they do tend to dominate in the garden, which has amazing views across the estuary. Tables inside are very close together;bit awkward for dining with people constantly brushing past, knocking into chairs etc. Very... More

View fabulous, staff nice enough food was terrible over priced in fact if it was free it still would have been overpriced I'm very disappointed in pub food gone are the days when going out to dinner is a treat no wonder the pubs are dying people are sick of being ripped off.

First discovered this place on a childhood family holiday in the late 70's, and come here whenever in the area, which is fairly regularly. Spectacular view, staff good, food reasonable. Special credit to the members of staff who dealt very professionally with a self important female customer woman who seemed to think that the "no children" in the front bar... More
