This restaurant was recommend to us and did not disappoint. It is set in water gardens which are still being developed. It is beautifully decorated and staff very friendly. The menu was varied and very good value. The food and service was excellent. I thoroughly recommend this to anyone.

We were not sure if this restaurant was open as we passed by during the day (some extensive decoration taking place to the hotel), so we rang early evening and was advised that it was and are we glad we checked, our meal was great, served in a lovely dining room, with excellent service - what could be better?

Yet again a stunning meal in a quiet atmosphere. The building work aside you enter a classy dining room to sit in a peaceful place to enjoy the well prepared and tasty delights of the generous menu. Friendly staff and a lovely black lab greet you in the bar prior to entering the dining room. Only one little point is... More

Menu varied with good choice of local produce - both fish and meat. Beautifully cooked and presented and plenty of it.

Don't be put off by the building work and no turning notice as after seeing that we weren't sure it was still a restaurant so stopped to ask! I was glad we did. It is still a restaurant and well worth a visit. Really delicious food and not long to wait - we were very pleased and also liked that... More

Another lovely meal at The Waterwheel thankyou. Fillet steak rare as asked. Lemon posset was tangy, and plenty of it. We all had a lovely evening.Service was friendly as always. Can't wait to see the new buildings.

The dreadful carpark, the unlit sign, the lack of any clear way in (it's like entering the back door) nearly made us leave. But so glad we didn't! Inside is beautifully done, sophisticated dining room, lovely staff and a well stocked bar. Dogs welcome in the bar and conservatory diner. Food was magnificent, from the safe steak to the interesting... More

Had dinner at this restaurant with my family of 6, in February 2017. We cannot fault the food, it was absolutely delicious. We all had 3 courses, and something different. The landlady couldn't be more accommodating to my Nan and Step-Mum's gluten intolerance and went out of her way to make sure they could eat what they wanted. Beautiful restaurant... More

The Waterwheel Inn was built in the late 1700s. It is steeped in the industrial history of Cornwall as it was once a tin smelting house and then involved in clay drying. It is set in a beautiful wooded valley next to St Austell's White River and just 10 minutes walk from the town. The restaurant is elegant but informal with exposed granite walls, oak floor and a log fire for cold winter evenings. We serve unpretentious, plentiful, freshly prepared meals including a 2 and 3 course menu for £14.95/£17.50, main meals from £10.95 and an a la carte menu with fresh local fish and seafood specials, plus extra mature chargrilled steaks.
