When we're out shopping, we'll usually find a diner for something basic like a grilled cheese sandwich. Yes, you can make it at home, but somehow it tastes better when they make it. On several trips, the grilled cheese at American Star varied from super to average. Must be the cook was different on different days. Anyway, I still recommend... More

My wife and I were very hungry late at night and didn't feel like fast food or driving far to a diner. We thought that we would try The American Star. It had some good ratings and was close to our home. We went over a little after 11 PM and there was three tables occupied. We came in an... More

If you're having breakfast out or have a desire for breakfast for dinner, this is a fine place . The food is good and the portions are sizable. The coffee is also very good. Deserts are impressive.

A group of us gals have been meeting here once a month for Saturday AM breakfast for the past two years.....always good and excellent service. We never have any complaints among the gals and our eggs are always very good. Centrally located for most of us, it is also convenient.......but most of all, we are catered to and it makes... More

We eat here for breakfast on occasion. We generally get the creamed chipped beef with home fries. The chipped beef is very good. We aren't coffee drinkers so I can't comment on it. One of the waitresses has been there for 30 years, although she said it has changed hands three times over the years. We have never eaten anything... More

I know it's a diner, but that shouldn't mean that you don't do basic things well. I go here on occasion for breakfast and I'm always amazed at how consistently poor the quality is. Today I ordered a Western omelette. The omelette was burnt, was 2 eggs not 3 (as the menu states), the toast was basically warm bread and... More

The coffee has improved greatly. I have had breakfast here twice recently and enjoy having the breakfast sandwich with egg and scrapple. The omelet recently changed from 2 eggs to 3. Service was a little above average for a busy restaurant.

We went here on a recommendation from friends that live in the area. It was a nice clean diner with very friendly service. The specials were on the board in the vestibule. We opted for items on the menu for dinner. I had the chicken Sorrento and my husband had porkchops. This included the salad bar which also had soups... More
