I have eaten at Max's quite a few times. Their food is delicious and authentic. A hidden gem in Pittsburgh. The setting is rustic, and the service is superb. If you like German food, they will have what you crave.

My parents took me here for my birthday dinner. It was delicious. I had the peasants platter and apple fritter for dessert. The apple fritter had a bit too much batter on it, but it was still good.

We went for my Birthday dinner with another couple. German food is "soul" food for me. The couple with us had never been to Max's. The Old World charm is present as soon as you walk into the place. Original tile floor and bar. Staff...More

We chanced upon Max's for lunch on a rainy Thursday and I'm glad to find that others have also reviewed it well. It isn't clear from outside that this is a place steeped in history. The bar is beautiful. We sat at a booth in...More

I loved the atmosphere of this place but was a little disappointed in the food. Our friends were highly complementary of Max’s but my fries were soggy and cold and the Weiner Schnitzel I had was mediocre. I will go back for the atmosphere and...More

We'd eaten at Max's in the distant past and thought it was pretty good but not this time. Four of us were seated at a table for 6 or 7 in a crowded corner. The service was friendly but forgetful, with lot's of reaching across...More

I used to love this place. Had not been for several years and decided to go back. Atmosphere and service were good. But the food was just not as good as I remembered. I had sauerbraten and my boyfriend had schnitzel. Both of us thought...More

You are correct. There is no dedicated parking area. We parked down the street a few hundred feet from the restaurant. Our friends parked directly across from us in front of a church. There was plenty of street parking... More
