We're regular patrons to this charming Indian restaurant in Oakland. The Mysore masala dosa is a can't miss as is the variety of north and South Indian entrees. Definitely try the gobi manchurian appetizer, the lamb biryani and their chicken makhani. Sunday night specials are a treat.

Ordered several dishes for takeout while visiting family in Pittsburgh. Both the dal and the sag paneer were too liquidy and lacking texture. The seasoning was good. Also the curries and nan were fine. On balance I was a bit disappointed in what was suggested to be a good Indian restaurant.

We went for dinner with two five year olds and limited selection for them for anything with no heat. They had plain rice and a plain dosa and had to buy them a turkey sandwich back at the hotel. They eat Indian food all the time but to spicy here. Maunchurian chichen was ok but fried chicken was tough and... More

We ordered a takeaway and requested spicy food. After reaching home when we opened we got the terrible chicken biryani. Chilli powder was just mixed with Rice and chicken. The veg food was ok.

Tamarind makes, hands down, some of the best food I've ever had. My SO and I go every Saturday for lunch, and occasionally for dinner with friends--it's just THAT good. First off, their lunch buffet is probably one of the best bangs for your buck you can get around the area. Just shy of $10 before tax for an unlimited... More

Absolutely fantastic. We stopped in here on a Saturday because we were in town for another event - since it's the Holiday Season, the pay lot up the street even had free parking. Bonus! Unfortunately, they didn't open until 5 PM, so we had to wait a couple minutes beforehand, but it was well worth it. We were actually the... More

Terrific staff, great food, reasonable price, no wait. The only reason I give it 4 stars is no parking was a hassle, especially during a rainstorm. You know it's a good Indian restaurant when multiple Indian families are streaming in and out too.

We had a small window of time for dinner, so we dropped in at Tamarind. the menu looks small, it is actually quite extensive; instead of being divided by protein type (chicken, tofu, lamb), the styles of dishes (tamarind, palak) are listed with the available proteins included. The serving is a bit different, too; instead of a bowl of rice... More
