After reading the reviews I was hesitant to go here, but I do like French food. I stayed for a while in Lyon, so I know that bistro food in that city is not the same as in Paris, so I was prepared for the...More

French comfort, so delicious. Wonderful flavors, not too fancy. These are foods you wouldn't make at home- we will return! Wow- the QUENELLE LYONNAISE was certainly unique- loved the light dumpling and the lobster sauce!. Service was very good. The only negative is that it...More

Le Lyonnais used to be the Sonoma Grille and that was always good. We went back to try the new place that replaced it, and let's just say that the change was for the worse. The service was "interesting." The waiter would not offer much...More

We came here and got a table outside on a fine summer evening. The weather was great and the table right on the street. Observing the scene downtown, I noticed many people dressed as animals. Seems it was Furry week in Pittsburgh. This was cause...More

Superb French food, perfect presentation, knowledgeable wait staff, good service. Crusty bread started things off well, the onion soup had a delicate but delicious broth, the steak tartar was excellent. The triple house made pates offered three distinctive tastes, the beef bourgoinne was fork tender...More

Ate here last night. Excellent service. Not quite a French Bistro but close. Good bread, affordable. A good Kir, but no Kir Royale. Good wine choices. Only a few French places in Pittsburgh but this one is worth the best.Very relaxed and quiet.

First, I wanted to address some of the past reviews on the service. I'm beginning to think it is an internet troll campaign as I found the service to be excellent. It was a busy Friday night and the staff was very attentive. At least...More

We dined on a week night, were seated, and waited 15-20 minutes before being acknowledged by a waiter. Not a good beginning. We shared a Belgian endive salad with apples, walnuts and a bit of cheese. You could not taste the dressing, so we found...More

Yves Carreau has done a nice job with this makeover into a French bistro with credible fare reflecting his heritage of Lyon. The trio of pates for an appetizer were very nicely done as was their version of Coquille St Jacques. Only thing missing from...More

The Theater square garage (entrance on 7th Street) or the Ninth and Penn garage would put you between the Benedum and Sonoma Grill.

I don't know. But, if you ask, the worst thing that could happen is that they say, "No!"

“French comfort food”. These three words may not seem like they belong together but they do here at Le Lyonnais. Our concept is one of simple, affordable, yet delicious dishes inspired by time honored recipes from my hometown of Lyon some of which have been in my family for generations.
