This place gets a mixed review I loved the interior wood design and an array of table sizes to accommodate large and small parties. The stir fry chicken and the beet and feta salad got good reviews from my companions. My Reuben was very dry and not tender. My son in law’s burger was not as tasty as he remembered when he recommended the place. The kids Mac and cheese looked creamy enough. Service was fine and they have a kids menu. Luckily we went early because they were turning people away at 5pm without reservations. I’m sure most would be satisfied dining here.

I ate at the pub downstairs. The barkeep was more interested in talking to co-workers than attending customers. However, the burger and beer were good. Daily specials on the menu are no longer offered due to rising costs in the current economy. So, a burger and beer were $20.

We called after getting an order together for our entire family, and was told by the most uninterested employee ever that "well, tonight we just aren't offering take out".... the menu says 10% gratuity added, I guess that's not enough for packing a bag. I can't comment on the food because the service turned our stomachs.

Have been here many times before, but on this Labor Day it was a horrible experience. The hostess failed to greet us. When we asked for a table she barely acknowledged us. Upon seating us and then ordering mixed drinks, they were not...mixed that is and served without stirrers. The food [vodka pasta with grilled chicken:an entire breast plopped on top] was bland.

The manager / Star Chef at the Gem is young and very talented in his preparing of your food. He comes out to greet you,and asks how you would prefer your food prepared. Very focused and concerned about your request of a menu item.My Son ordered a Hamburger rare. When we returned to the Inn to eat our dinner he bit into it and very much enjoyed it. Rare, juicy, tasty and the sides like tomato and lettuce, onion, were all very fresh, not wilty like some places. The bun was fresh and warm.I enjoyed a vegetable salad with chicken ( which i gave to my Wife as I am vegetarian due to medical reasons) The chicken was the same, warm, juicy, and very tasty. We will be back again and again, even on evenings we aren't staying at the inn,as it is on the way home from Shawnee Mountain..

We had 11 of us on a Saturday Night. Our reservation was met and a table was set for us. That was the only good thing about the evening. Our waitress tried but she was invisible. Within the first 20 minutes we had a pitcher of water that was good for half the table. Some drinks came after about 30 minutes. Appetizers arrived after 45 minutes. The onion soup was overloaded with pepper. Someone sent it back as it was not edible and it was still not taken off the bill. There were tables of 4-6 people in and out that had their food, drink etc with no problem. After about 60 minutes we had more water but still not enough for the table. The only good entre was the burger. Some people just flat out gave up with their meals as it was awful. a Few entrees were brought out cold. One was sent back and that was finally brought out hot but it was after everyone was already done. They took off 10% on appetizers and 20% on the cold entree. If they couldnt handle the reservation they should have said so. It was not crowded and other tables had no problems, so we just didn't get it. We complained throughout the night to no avail.

I went to the Gem for dinner with a group of friends. I quickly became apprehensive about the evening because we were automatically told a list of items on the menu that they didn't have. On the list of things was ice!!!! We asked a receptionist a question about their smoking policy outside and she quickly said "I don't know" and just walked away. We had to ask her to find out and she never came back with an answer. As the night progressed, things did not get better when we received our food. My friend ordered the filet Mignon and received a mountain high portion of mash potatoes and her filet mignon was 4 oz rather than 8. Also, another friend received canned beats on her salad. Never again will I go to this restaurant.

Went here on a Saturday night for dinner, around 7:30. We had a small party, just 4. We had a reservation & got seated within 5 min at a booth. Our server came immediately, asked us for drinks and brought them out within minutes. Took our order & put it. And that’s where the good part ends. It took over 45min for the food to come out. We got no updates while we waited. And had to flag down another server to ask what happened. Turns out the kitchen was backed up. When the food came out, almost an hour after ordering, it was bland and unseasoned. Definitely not appetizing. Do not recommend going here unless you have hours to kill and like your food unseasoned.

Nothing much to choose from in the area so we gave it another try from coming back in 8 years. Was such the wrong decision. Upon walking in, we were told by the hostess that it will be a little bit for silverware. What, I’m sorry, what do you say, You don’t have clean silverware right now? Oh boy not a good start. Since there was nothing around, we decided to stay and pick something that didn’t need forks to start. The nachos with chicken were horrible. Dry n salty. There was like an old bay seasoning on the chips that made it extremely salty n hardly any toppings. Buy the time we were ready to order, the silverware was clean. The beer Mac n cheese was horrible, again salty, n the Portabella wrap was oily n soggy. It Was the worst lunch I ever had and it was our last day there. What a shame. And On every menu at every restaurant which was not much out there, always had Mac and cheese. What’s the deal PA

When we arrived at the restaurant around 3:15 pm and noticed we were going to have a private lunch since we were the only ones there for early supper, we were greeted with a smile and seated at a booth by a middle age hostess. Our young waitress welcomed us and took our drinks orders of an "Uptown" or we told her it is also called a "Arnold Palmer" which is half unsweetened ice tea and half lemonade; and we ordered an appetizer of BBQ wings with blue cheese dressing (since they were out of the honey sirachia ). The appetizers were served ihot and in a timely manner. We order their Smoked BBQ Ribs with sweet potato fries and Penne Pasta in Vodka sauce and shrimp with side order of garlic bread. Every dish was delicious and of large portion. So we had a "doggie bag" container to take the extras to our River Village Villa for a night cap feast. Service was excellent and price was very reasonable.

We agreed to be seated "downstairs" so as not to wait. The service was poor. It seemed only one server was taking care of the inside and outside dining area in the lower level. Appetizers arrived with no plates/ set up or napkins! This lack of attention followed for the rest of the meal. The food was good, but really not worth the frustration with the waiting..... and waiting some more.

This brew pub made a fun lunch outing. There is a spacious outdoor area overlooking a peaceful backyard, good local beer, and the best veggie burger I've ever had- called The Impossible Burger. Fries were cut like little boats, "dipper fries", also delicious. The ShawneeCraft beer IPA and the amber ale were both very good. Service was a little slow. I'd eat here again.

The atmosphere is excellent, the beers were good and the bar food was what anyone would expect. The service was terrible. 20 minutes for a waitress to take your order. Waitress was new and overwhelmed, none which was her fault. Her manager was rude and not qualified for her role. She would not turn the outdoor heaters on even though people were cold. She kept saying they were busy, yet there were not many people there. If you just want a beer and ti sit in the tavern, it's fine. If you want food, the wait is not worth it. CBP - November 2020

We were on vacation and found this spot. Hands down the BEST!! Everyone was super friendly but our waitress (Sandra Bullock look alike) was GREAT!! Party of 6 and NOT 1 person had a complaint. I had the pulled chicken nachos as a meal and they were probably the best I ever had and a HUGE amount. I shared and we still didn't finish them. The prime rib cheesesteak was also Very good, I taste tested theirs. Would highly recommend the spiked Hot Chocolate (don't remember the actual name). It's a shame we are not close, we would be regulars.
