Exactly what I wanted and expected- classic 1950's style soft serve ice cream. Prices are on the high side but the quality was good.
I had an awful experience over this past weekend. I took my grandchild to have ice cream and the scary guy was so mean he made my grandchild cry. He acted as if we were bothering him, so we tried to leave but this horrible...guy stuck his head out the window and started screaming at us. I have never experienced such behavior in my life. This place has been here forever. Long lines are here during the summer for their very rich ice cream treats. They also do burgers, dogs, fries etc. for quick and easy meals out. The food is fair but ice cream is good. The lunch looks...nes on the weekends are quite long. They have lost muted parking in front but large lots nearby and it is in the heart of town on route 611. I work nearby and love driving by the building for the nostalgic look it keeps in the area. But , although it has new owners the food is horrendous . The hamburgers and cheesesteaks I wouldn’t feed a starving dog. I was hoping the food...would improve over what the previous owners were serving . So disappointed!More
Owner does not contribute to other local small businesses and talks poorly of them. Prices raised for just ok ice cream. Better places in tne area go to those.
Always a family favorite. Whenever we pass, as long as it’s not packed, we make a stop for some ice cream! The parking is tight but it’s worth it to stop.

Gabel's is a Tannersville tradition for more than the 30 years we've been in the area, but it has recently come under new management. The new owner has refurbished the facility (which is all outdoors), and as with the other local ice cream places he...has taken over, Gabel's now offers only ice cream made by the owner. Members of our party had previously been to the new Gabel's and found the ice cream to be acceptable, with both soft ice cream and a wide variety of hard ice cream flavors. When we visited recently, however, and asked if any of their products were gluten-free (one member of our party has medical gluten prohibition), we received a one word answer: no. So if you or a member of your party has gluten issues, fortunately there's a new (gluten-friendly) Dairy Queen 200 feet down the road.More
We happened to pass this little gem on accident while getting gas before heading back to NY, we had lunch and then ice cream. The staff working was friendly and helpful, the food was hot, simple and delicious. Now for the ice cream!!! First the...portions are insanely huge, the soft serve was so delish. We also ordered a hard ice cream flavor as well as brownie delights and they did not disappoint! When visit the area next year we will be back!More
