Very engaging group that helped us through the drink menu and helped us chart our course down King Street to dinner.

Loved everything about the grocery and their menu. Was most impressed with the house-made charcuterie. All items had simple ingredients and the server was really great. I do have to take note of the synergy I witnessed while there. Although only our server spoke to us (other than when the manager came to touch) several other employees including the busser,... More

Dined at The Grocery for the first time in awhile, and am kicking myself for waiting so long. Went early on a Saturday evening and was greeted warmly and promptly seated. Our server, Elizabeth, was attentive, knowledgeable and charming throughout the evening. Great selection of seafood - I had the oysters followed by soft shell crab - delicious! Trigger fish,... Great ambiance, Italian chopped salad a must but u gotta like garlic. A little noisy but can be interpreted as private. I had the short ribs and they were scrumptious

This is a special place: the food is delicious and well presented and the service is superb. Our appetizer of roasted beets was beautifully presented and the beets (of different varieties) were delicious and perfectly seasoned. The main meal (roasted fish) was succulent though just a bit underdone in the middle. Overall, we enjoyed our meal a lot!

The Grocery was near our Air BnB so we walked over. We were impressed with the choices, the quality of cooking was top notch and the wine selection very good. Highly recommended it !

My wife and I had dinner here in April based on a recommendation from a friend. Even before we had dinner there several locals confirmed how goo a restaurant was. The food did not disappoint. We had several items, but the the things that really stood out were the bone in rib-eye as well the trigger fish. Being from Chicago... More

As regular visitors to Charleston, we wanted to try something new. The Grocery is that! Open for dinner, only, it is a small boutique restaurant with interesting cocktail and dinner menu. The Dirty Tomato martini was one of the best cocktails I have ever drunk! The menu is very different... You choose dishes for one, two, or a table. Be... More

Great cocktails but disappointed with the happy hour food which was really not very good. My husband had some kind of fish which was literally loaded with bones. I had an egg dish which was fair at best. The shrimp and grits for Sunday brunch were excellent but my companion's dirty rice dish was not good or even appealing to... More

Evoking memories of the small-town grocery, executive chef and owner Kevin Johnson has created a gathering place of warmth and familiarity, with a menu based on seasonal ingredients available from local and regional farmers and fishermen he knows and has worked with for many years. The Grocery’s kitchen is stocked with house-made charcuterie and fresh, local fish and seafood, and the restaurant accommodates an in-house canning program to preserve fresh produce for the menu. An extensive cocktail and wine list are available as is craft beer on tap, and a wood-burning oven heightens the cordial atmosphere in the former furniture warehouse.
