Planned a special night here while in Charleston for the first time. Thought the steak tartare was very good. The Lobster roll was the special on this Tuesday. While good it could have been a bit more flavorful.. I did go crazy over the coconut cream pie. From the crust to the top it was worth every calorie..

My husband and I ate here in early January and were underwhelmed (compared to Husk where our meal was outstanding). To begin with the meal was almost $100 for an appetizer, 6 oysters and 1 entree which we spit. We had the fish pate which tasted like a slightly doctored up tuna fish salad. It came with 4 small toast... More

We had dinner here with local relatives who recommended it. First, I have to compliment the hostess; there was no trace of the reservation that our cousin had made and the place was clearly busy, but we were seated with no fuss. Our waitress gave us a few minutes to settle in before coming back to get our cocktail order.... More

Looking to have some nice oysters and a glass of wine I was directed to this restaurant. Have eaten oysters all over the world I found the selection very limited, this along with the chef sauce I was very disappointed. The only saving grace from my visit was sitting at the bar I found the services very attentive and professional.

The Ordinary is easily the best seafood restaurant in Charleston, and that's saying a lot. One of the 2-3 best restaurants in towns and one of the best seafood places in the country. Owned by James Beard Award winner Mike Lata, The Ordinary is set in an old bank building, beautifully redone. Reminiscent of a grand Parisian brasserie. The sourcing... More

We have heard a lot about The Ordinary and knew it was owned by the same people as FIG , so we had high expectations. It did not disappoint! We sampled lots of favorites. Their oysters and sauces were so fresh and delicious. The sea salt chips were very tasty, but the crispy oyster slider was to die for. It... More

We were part of a large group and the service could not have been more elegant. The raw seafood tower sparkled. The vegetarian among us had an amazing dish of radicchio, mushrooms and hazelnuts. Oh those Hawaiian rolls, both as the breadbasket and for dessert as bread pudding!

We recently ate at the Ordinary during a trip to Charleston based on numerous recommendations, but the meal was memorable for all the wrong reasons. Pros: Nice space, menu had some interesting choices as did the cocktail menu, and some of the dishes were excellent (others, average). Cons: When we made the reservation, we requested a booth downstairs but were... More

This was my date night reservation during our trip to Charleston, which my GF researched like The professional she is, so this was my power contribution. I had wanted to sit upstairs overlooking the dinning room, but sitting on the main floor of this huge old bank was the stars shinning on us. We sat between some girlfriends out from... More

Had an awesome night. Oysters were perfect! The waitress selected a perfect Chablis and everything went great! If you are a foodie you will love it! Our waitress was awesome!
