Charleston has a great restaurant scene. Each year when we visit we see new ones opened and many closed. Anson's is one of the few that is time tested and still excellent.. It has everything you want for a great evening out in Charleston. First, a great kitchen, wonderful, fresh seafood, excellent presentation... their fried quail appetizer is to die... More
Another beautiful room in Charleston, substandard fine dining, pretentious and overdone. The crabcakes are excellent. Have them with a glass of wine and go elsewhere. The fried flounder special is truly worth avoiding, unless you have a fondness for fish fried in sweet jelly.
I have been there with my wife and son for an excellent dinner experience. The place was busy the volume of customers constant but tolerable. The food was good, the Sea Bass grilled was of good quality and well cooked. The accompanying sauce, local specialty, was of a peculiar taste for us but we were pleased with it. The problem... More
Service was excellent. Darnell was our waiter and made our dining experience perfect. We had the shrimp and pasta and Crispy Flounder. Both were delicious. Definitely on my list of favorite things about Charleston.
We visited this quaint restaurant our first night in Charleston because the Concierge at our hotel recommended it. I guess we were under dressed because the wait staff ignored us night yet fawned over diners in pastel dress shirts and cocktails dresses. And it also is apparent that if you aren't drinking alcohol the waiters assume their tips won't be... More
Anson's is one of those restaurants that you keep going back to over and over. Although they invented and known for their Crispy Flounder, their menu is always superb and inventive. The Chef combines seasonal dishes with old favorites to satisfy most any culinary taste. The service both at the bar and table were fantastic. Our waiter was witty, informative... More
My husband had the day's catch with all the sides which was excellent. I was spoiled with too much seafood, so wanted to try something different - their confit duck leg which was out of this world - best I've tasted of this dish. Our enjoyment was enhanced by Leah our delightful server and her recommendations for wines and dessert.... More
Wasn't sure what to expect, but will absolutely put it on my priority list now! The staff was extraordinarily friendly without being obnoxious! Our server was knowledgeable and helpful with explanations and suggestions. A person whom I assumed was the manager checked on us a couple of times and treated us like we were "long lost friends" (again, without being... More
Anson was the best restaurant that we have had dinner at on our trip so far. Have been to Savannah and Hilton Head. We were seated in a very nice area on the second floor. I had the Braised Pork Chop and the other people in my party had the Chicken under a Brick and Salmon. All 3 dishes were... More
