If you are interested in watching the action in the kitchen, ask for a seat at the kitchen counter for a bird's eye view of the choreography that goes on in the kitchen to prepare your meal. It's amazing.

Do not be fooled by the casual atmosphere of Cru! Yes, it is a small older home, but this place is serving five star southern delights! Our table faced an open kitchen, and I enjoyed watching the crew cook up our meal. The fried oyster salad is fresh and flavorful and the soups were creamy and hot. I had read... More

Cru is a gem. The tastes in the turkey avocado sandwich work perfectly together. They smoke their own turkey meat. I also tried the truffle mushroom soup and it was spectacular. The staff was extremely nice. Even gave me info about the recipe for the soup.

This months lunch trip, tried their Calimari on a salad, this was really good. Lunch menu is affordable and very good. Call ahead, they can be very busy. One of our top restaurants here in Charleston.

In a quaint small house in a great location. The mussels were to die for. I drank the broth with a spoon afterwards!

The food is so delicious, fresh, original and tasty there will be no crumbs left on your plate. This is one of the few places I would ever recommend waiting an hour to get a table- but it's worth the wait. Mac and cheese is always their speciality but everything is always so good. My suggestion is to eat there... More

Cruz Cafe is great - and that's the problem. The small, homey place is just too crowded with folks who want to experience it's wonderful, creative cuisine. So if you want to be one of those folks, get there early or off-time. It's worth the effort. Before or after, take a lovely carriage ride. It's right across the street.

Located on the first floor of a nice house near the City Market, it was busy during lunch. There was a 30 minute wait for a table, but two seats opened up at the kitchen view bar. I had a shrimp pasta and a beer. It was fun watching the cooks and chef prepare the food. Service was OK considering... More

I had a 1:45 lunch reservation but still had to wait 25 minutes. The place is small. They tried to accommodate us, and the food (fried goat cheese, duck/arugula salad, calamari) was good. The place was interesting. I would probably not try it again because of the wait. There are too many other choices.
