About
In the mid 1900's a new chapter of history was made in a small town in Little River S.C. At that time a restaurant was opened in the very banks of the Intercoastal Waterway, called Capt. Juel's Hurricane. In the mid 70's the restaurant was brought by Joe Robertson, who still owns it today. You will still find Mr. Joe in and around the kitchen and his wife Deanna behind the bar mixing up killer drinks or in the kitchen preparing the luscious desserts. The restaurant is managed by their daughter Heidi and her husband Clayton, it truly is a family affair. In 2014 the place under went a total renovation inside and out. The restaurant now features a new Sushi Bar, that's a must have over looking the

Shrimp Festival today and had lunch here with a party of 10. Tabatha was our server and was excellent. The menu was limited due to the Festival. Had the Fish sandwich which server said was grouper. Sorry that it was not accurate. Fish sandwich was...cool, greasy and soggy and the fries were the same. Couldn't eat it and couldn't complain as our group was wanting to go. Desserts were good and wines were cheap but the owner should loose the 4% surcharge on credit card use. Nobody does this.More

Great place! Great food!! Great people!!! Great find!!!! This Little River specialty is not a tourist trap, it’s far from it. It’s a long-standing waterfront restaurant that serves up awesome menu selections at reasonable prices. Any reviews you see under a 4, you can disregard....They seem to be left by disgruntled peeps that misunderstood a coupon (BUT liked their “nice meal”) like awesomeness1981 a.k.a. Justin C. did but who then decided to bury the place with a one star review on both TripA and YeLp because he felt he lost out on a $3.80 discount; or others that weren’t happy they didn’t get a smile from the server. The servers are hustlers and are working hard during a rough time where restaurants can’t find good help nor any help at all. Many places in resort towns are short staffed. Heck, the nice subtle message on the back of their tee shirts is just asking people to bear with it. And really, how hard is it to be patient? We hit The Hurricane 3x in 8 days. We had: ahi tuna steak, grouper bites(called Island Fish Bites—BEST IN ALL OF SOUTH CAROLINA), shrimp and grits, fries, sushi (Cat5), fish tacos, fried green tomatoes, chicken sandwich, and cake cake cake! Homemade cake that comes in a serving that could feed 4! And the last piece of peach pie. All the food items are terrific. You come for the ambience as well as the food. It’s a local place, a regulars place on the inter-coastal, that surely welcomes the appreciative out of towner. There are hundreds of pictures on the wall of patrons going back decades. There are beer taps from days gone by (think Stroh’s and Schaefer beers) adorning the place. And if you can’t appreciate a place that screams boats-fish-beach-fun-friends and good food then it isn’t the place for you.More

Came here after the dolphin tour on Sea Thunder (great cruise!) and I really wanted to love the food. The views of the inter coastal waterway were lovely. The service was fast despite being short staffed (servers all wore a shirt that said “please be...patient - there are like 3 of us”😀). One of our party ordered the flounder po’ boy sandwich and he loved it. The fish was very fresh and it was a whole piece. Others ordered the Mahi sandwich which was good but dry. I had the blackened fish tacos which I wanted to love but the pieces of fish were small and heavily salted. I wish they had used cabbage instead of iceberg lettuce. Prices were a little high as well but to be expected. All in all, a good lunch with great views.More

Stopped by the restaurant after a dolphin ride (associated with the establishment). We were told multiple times during the ride that we would get a 10% discount at the restaurant after our ride. We decided to get sushi and had a nice lunch. However, at...the end, we were informed by management that sushi didn’t count (despite the server saying it did) and they refused to apply the discount. Has a tourist trap vibe and would not recommend.More

Not being familar with the area, I was expecting something a little different in the location and setting. However we were not disappointed in the service or the food. We were promptly seated even though we were early for our reservation. Our waitress was very...attentive. We had crab dip for an appetizer and it was delicious as were the homemade chips. My husband and I shared the oyster platter and it was more than we could eat. Our son in law got the scallops and he said they melted in his mouth. I was a wonderful dining experience.More

Our family ate here twice during our week long stay in Myrtle Beach. Everything was delicious. Best sushi I've ever had! I had 3 different kinds and so good! Their signature drink, Hurricane, was wonderful!! They also make homemade chips for their dip and they...were fantastic! Definitely go here!!More

Good food and service and a 10% discount if you ride the Sea Screamer dolphin cruise. It’s a good place for lunch. Has a lot of windows with views of the intercostal waters.

The she crab soup was salty and had a skin on it (cold), the fries were room temperature as were the crab cakes. Had to request several times for my son and me to get warm food. I get it they were busy, but …the...price was still the same.More

We have been to Capt. Juel's numerous times and always have had great seafood. We usually take visiting family and friends here. We enjoy deck seating on a warm sunny days. Great atmosphere and service is generally very good. Prices are what you would expect...of a seafood restaurant in this area.More
