Virtually everything on the menu is "ala carte" so dinner at the Old Village Post House is likely to be quite expensive. However, the historical ambiance, the excellent service and the delicious meals left us feeling that it was all worth it. If we lived nearby, it is the kind of place that we would visit for special occasions such... More

Had a family birthday dinner at the restaurant using one of private rooms. Staff was accommodating and attentive and food was excellent. We had a fixed menu for the party which was great and can't wait to have dinner there on my next visit to town.

Love the Hall family and what they have done here. Now I don't need to go downtown for my favorite chopped Saladin steaks. Specifically this is the restaurant to go out to when you want a romantic dinner without the crowd downtown. The food is always great!!!

Super food especially the filet mignon and truffle fries. Excellent attentive service. Nice ambiance although tables are a little too crowded in main dining room. Also Reservations could be better managed as we had to wait about half an hour for our table.

Intimate and local fine dining. From a small and intimate location and premises, to a wonderful and caring staff that attends to a small clientele, to wonderful menu that is not pretentious but is seriously good dining at less than break-the-bank prices--you can never go wrong at this wonderful eatery.

We were hesitant to go back to one of our favorite restaurants while visiting Charleston again due to some of the reviews posted here. The meal was fabulous our reservation was perfect, never kept us waiting. My husband and I both had their crab soup and it was great. Friends had the onion soup that was very oniony served with... We had not been to Old Village Post House in years but I chose to go there for my birthday dinner while staying nearby. The service was outstanding and the food even better than that from the salad to entrée to dessert. I love every bite. I think it's the best meal I have had at a nice restaurant in... More

Last week we shared a birthday dinner at the OVPH with our close friends. It was restaurant week so in addition to the main menu, there was a special menu with a steak or fish entree. My wife and I have dined here many times before and enjoyed our experience Arrival: we arrived at 1920 for a 1930 reservation. Our... More

We tried the OVPH for the first time during Charleston Restaurant Week. First impression was not great - there seems to be an increasing trend of putting pretty teenage girls in the front of house, but do they have to wear their workout gear?? Our server was completely distracted and ignored for long periods, and we were 'forced' to order... More
