Found this gem on our last night. So glad! The food and atmosphere was so good. I had the swordfish special, it was so full of flavor, the sides of onion rings and coleslaw were delish. My husband got fried shrimp and scallops. They were lightly fried and tender, again so good. He had the rice and grilled veggies which... More

Loved everything about this restaurant. Welcoming and homey and excellent food and service. Had the swordfish special. Absolutely delicious. Everyone I was with loved their food which included fried and grilled seafood entrees. The key lime pie dessert was authentic and sublime. The owner/chef came to our table and chatted. It was a great meal.

Capt Johns is the place to go if you want good seafood; no frozen here just the freshest seafood to be found. My husband and I have become regulars and have not been disappointed. The staff is great they know their stuff which makes for a pleasant meal. And you can usually find Capt John behind the grill just like... More

Had the haddock sandwich with a bowl of lobster bisque. Both good, the bisque was not full of lumpy lobster, but it was still very tasty. Would eat here again.

We've eaten here several times before. Specialty is the Haddock. It's a northern fish similar to cod, nice white and clean flavor. The potato salad is very good. It's always good, but this time we tried the special - a scottish salmon, and my wife a salad with fried shrimp. Both were outstanding. Server, Ashley - who seemed also to... More

We're here from Maine for the winter, and finding seafood that tastes like home is hard to find. We found it here. Scallops, fish were just like Maine. Lightly breaded, just delicious. Next time we go we'll try the lobster roll. The waitress told us all seafood is shipped from New England. Compared to home we thought the prices were... More

I hesitate to write this review because it is THE restaurant for the "locals". We had dinner at Capt Johns last night ( 1/12/2017 ). It was packed! There is no "off season" at this restaurant! I had the huge scallops that were grilled perfectly. My husband had fried shrimp--his comment was "large portions of best fried shrimp ever at... More

We had read the great reviews and came for dinner. The portions were very small for the price. Usually we are taking home doggie bags. And our server was less than attentive. We may give Captain John's another chance, but there are so many great, reasonable restaurants in the area that it may be a while.

Party of five seated quick and we had an efficient and friendly waitress. Food was delicious. My son was satisfied as were the others in our party. I had a cup of spicy seafood gumbo which was outstanding and for my main course the cajun seafood platter of haddock, shrimp and scallops. Reasonably priced. Check it out!

We love eating at this location but this is the first time I have written a review on it for TA. This place appears to be a common place for the locals and we all know that means great food at reasonable prices. I had the grilled haddock and scallops, my wife the fried haddock plate and the sister in... More
