We were disappointed. The menu was creative, the space attractive, the plates artistically presented and the staff was friendly and welcoming. However the dishes were not flawless in their executed and the server was lacking in fine dining etiquette. Creativity is not a substitute for strong fundamentals. I also think that management needs to tell the server that nose rings... More

Chattanooga is a city with many fine restaurants. Terra Mae is located in the heart of downtown Chattanooga is a completely renovated boutique hotel. The Stonefort Inn was remodeled as Dwell under new ownership, and although we have not stayed there we have toured the rooms which are awesome (check out their website!). The restaurant was reopened a year ago... More

I have been numerous times and have never been disappointed. Creative and unique, above other Chattanooga restaurants in quality and presentation. Staff is excellent and they are oh so attentive. Go, just go. None finer in the Scenic City.

Glad we finally put Terra Mae in our plans for our recent trip to Chattanooga! Fun spot, not too big, not too loud, great seasonal menu and we absolutely loved everything we ordered. Cocktails were on point, wine list that could suit anyone's taste & budget, and food was really well executed. Excellent value for this level of food and... More

Took business clients to this location, read reviews and selected, I am from out of town. They were very accommodating from the reservation to the dinner. Service was wonderful. The real gem is the food as well as presentation. Everyone (8 people) at the table loved their food. A++. My only comment is there were times the kitchen exhaust was... More

Such a special evening. We were told that the restaurant had recently been renovated, as this was our first visit on our mini vacation in Chattanooga. I made reservations and the only disappointment was not making reservations for the Chef's Table. We had lobster salad for our appetizer and I've dreamt about it ever since. We had the Salmon and... This was our first visit to Terra Mae and we got the sense that they were still working out the details-nothing glaringly wrong, just not quite right. We had made reservations, but noone was expecting us. We got shifted between the bar and the restaurant. We had to ask for somewhere to hang our coats. Our waiter was extremely friendly... More

Sat in the bar and ordered an Aviation, they not only knew the drink , but made an excellent one . Decided to stay and have dinner , less impressed with the food . Had carrot salad , way too much dressing. Had a chicken appetizer, not really good . My husband food wasn't much better. Lots of very attentive... More

Had the delight of visiting pre-renovation, we only discovered this restaurant last year right before they sold the hotel and restaurant. Our first visit was right before the renovation and I will say it was the best meal i have had in Chattanooga. After the sale of the restaurant/hotel there was a complete overall of the first floor. I do... More

Description
It starts with the freshest local ingredients from nearby farms, transformed by Chef Shelly D. Cooper into dishes that are both familiar and brand new. This isn't the high Southern cooking you might see in movies like The Help. This isn't low country cooking. It's inspired by the local fare eaten in the Southern Appalachians for centuries, a cuisine born from a deep love of the land. From steaks to scallops, from chowchow to country ham, from barbecue duck to biscuits, from hills and hollers to the coast, TerraMae's menus are firmly rooted in regional traditions with a contemporary twist. Some of our ingredients are unexpected to those who have forgotten or never experienced the practical magic of Appalachian foodways. Whether you come for dinner, lunch, or brunch, you're sure to rediscover the delight of truly local food. TerraMae is a perfect location for large groups and private dining experiences.
