Mi Viejo Ranchito is a located on the side of the road on Carretera Masaya in the outskirts of Managua. This restaurant is a family favorite for all of us and we frequented this restaurant numerous times. This restaurant is great for families, couples, etc....This restaurant has it's own dedicated parking lot. Mi Viejo Ranchito offers an extensive menu of local Nicaraguan favorites and a kids menu as well. The outdoor setting is bright and airy. Wifi is provided courtesy of the restaurant. Just ask the workers for the Wifi password. Our 7 year old enjoyed coming here and we took our family who lives in Managua here, some of them being their first time coming here! They enjoyed it very much. The menu is very large having simple things like tostones con queso (plantain chips with cheese), quesillo (Nicaraguan dish: tortilla, cream, and onions), y tajadas (plantain chips). To more elaborate dishes such as borchetta de res (sticks with meat and vegetables), pollo a la plancha (grilled chicken), and carne asada (grilled meat). My Viejo Ranchito is conveniently located right off the road (literally right off the road on the right side), half way between Managua and Granada. If you are traveling from Managua to Granada you have to stop and eat in this Restaurant, it is quiet...an experience, my husband and I eat here on a Tuesday afternoon and let me tell you, it felt like the weekend they had a nice trio playing romantic songs, the food was delicious! My husband and I were so hungry that we felt that trying one of their steak was the best choice and, let me tell you.... I am so glad we did. I ordered the "filete de lomo", served with white rice, pico de gallo and tostones, the meat was so tender and juice with a garlic, buttery taste, well done and my husband had the mini churrasco with chimichurri sauce that it was very delicious as well, this food really hit the spot! For the quality of the food, the service, the convenience, the ambiance and the prices this place is a MUST when traveling to Granada, they also have many convenient locations in Catarina, even in the Food court in the Galerias Shopping Center in Managua. This place is crowded most of the time because it's really good if you want a Nicaraguan experience (if not they also have other types of food). The waiters make you feel at home, food is delicious and the prices are great. This is a...place where you always go back, I highly recommend :)More
